Gaming creator La'tayvia Deshay Ransom, known on YouTube as Tayta Games, died from colon cancer on Sept. 17. She was 21.
"My Oldest daughter passed this morning," Tayta's father, Elton Dirt Ransom, wrote in a Sept. 17 post on Facebook, adding that her daughter's colon cancer had spread to her liver at the time of her death.
"La'tayvia Deshay Ransom would have made 22yrs old in 9 days," continued the grieving father. "I've been doing 2 a days at the hospital for the past week praying for the best. Talking to her made me so optimistic. Damn, I just can't believe I lost my child."
Tayta — who had over a million followers across her Instagram, YouTube and TikTok accounts — gained popularity online for her comedic reactions while playing various video games, including Minecraft and Dress to Impress.
She also publicly documented her cancer journey, first announcing that she was diagnosed with colon cancer last year in a series of posts on her YouTube channel. She later revealed she was undergoing chemotherapy.
In the comments of her most recent YouTube video, posted five months ago, Tayta gave her fans an update: "I'm doing okay !! I haven't been posting because I'm experiencing the side effects from chemo," wrote the creator, adding that she had been experiencing "peripheral neuropathy" and that she was "sad" because she missed interacting with fans.
She shared her final video on TikTok on Aug. 21.
In a lengthy tribute on Instagram, Tayta's twin brother remembered his sister as the "sweetest" and "funniest" person.

Tayta's friend also shared a touching tribute to the late creator, writing, "Im so heartbroken and I still can't believe it."
"Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself," she added. "Thank you for being that sister that I never had and thank so much for never judging me and pushing me to be better."
