The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was a star-studded affair, but the real standouts from the event were the puppies.

The PEOPLE/EW and Shutterstock studio at TIFF, located in the NKPR IT House, presented by Q Tower, partnered with Project Paws to bring adorable, adoptable puppies on site, allowing A-list actors to take photos with the rescue pets while promoting movies at the film festival.

Celebrities like Jodie Foster, Kerry Washington, and Ryan Reynolds arrived at the PEOPLE/EW and Shutterstock studio eager to meet, hold, and pose with the little canines, all part of one litter rescued from northern Canada by Project Paws."It's really funny the number of people that come up and they'll be like, this is the most exciting part of the day, I just wanted to come here and see the puppies," Hilary Burns, a board member at Project Paws who was on hand at TIFF to help handle the 8-week-old dogs, tells PEOPLE.

One pup in particular, Cloud, gained lots of famous fans, including Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery star Josh O'Connor, who tenderly cradled the pup throughout his photoshoot at the studio.

After a whirlwind few days at TIFF, where they cozied up to Scarlett Johansson and Lewis Pullman, the pups are now ready to focus on finding their forever homes.

All of the puppies are available for adoption through Project Paws. The rescue is currently accepting adoption applications for the baby dogs, who will be ready to move into homes soon.

"It's really great to have applications flowing in so we can start checking them and have them ready to go home right after their spay and neuter date," Burns says, adding, "Just knowing that they've got a home to go to is a good feeling instead of having to stress over the vetting process."

Burns notes that many animal lovers may think that puppies don't spend long in animal shelters, but Project Paws is finding that puppies are becoming increasingly difficult to adopt.

"It's tough with puppies. People think that it's easy, but it's tough because a lot of people lately have been wanting to get a one-year-old dog, or I'm watching a lot of puppies grow up in rescue, which is sad," Burns says.

She and fellow Project Paws board member, Anna Golinski, hope that the pups' exposure at TIFF and the dozens of photos they now have with celebs will help the dogs find homes fast.

"If anyone is interested in adopting any of the puppies, they can go to our website. The entire adoption application process is outlined there, so we ask that anyone interested in a dog submit an application, and we can review it to make sure that the dog they're looking for is a good fit for the family," Golinski says about how some can bring home a pup that's met Amanda Seyfried.

For those unable to adopt a pet at this time, but still interested in helping Project Paws, the nonprofit is always open to donations and new pet fosters.

"What's really helpful is just sharing some of our social media posts and getting the word out there, and that doesn't cost anything, and it takes five seconds or less to share a post. And that's something that I wish more people would," Golinski says about another way others can help.

Any of the actions help Project Paws work towards its goal of getting homeless pets spayed or neutered and into happy homes where they can be adored, shares Burns.
