A Pennsylvania college student is facing a criminal charge after authorities said he threatened the Utah school where conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot.
The student, a 20-year-old man, allegedly made threats against Utah Valley University, Summit County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Skyler Talbot confirmed to USA TODAY on Thursday, Sept. 18.
"The investigation remains active but at this time, no other individuals are believed to be involved," Talbot said, adding the incident appears isolated.

Over 100 people have faced consequences for remarks about Charlie Kirk's death
The FBI on Tuesday, Sept. 16, told deputies about a suspicious video posted online, according to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
The video, officials wrote in the bulletin, was believed to have been uploaded on Monday night, Sept. 15, and depicted an individual "making threats of violence and death, specifically referencing Utah Valley University and stating an intent to carry out the threats imminently."

Student was staying with family in Summit County, Utah
The sheriff's office opened an investigation and identified and located the student suspected of making and posting the threatening footage.
The student, who attends school in Pennsylvania, "had recently traveled to and was staying with family in Summit County," the sheriff's office said. He was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail on Tuesday, Sept. 16, for suspicion of making a threat of terrorism.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by KSL-TV and CBS News, before the student's arrest, he traveled from Pennsylvania to Park City and posted the video while in Utah.
As of Thursday, Sept. 18, there was no immediate indication "any significant steps were taken toward carrying out the threats," officials said.
According to the affidavit, in the footage, the student identifies himself and says: "I am now beginning my odyssey to Utah Valley University to fulfill my lifelong duty of finally killing woke." Officials also wrote that the student told investigators his comments were a "joke."

Student released on $1,000 bond, no court date set
The sheriff's office told USA TODAY that the student was released from custody on Wednesday, Sept. 17, on a $1,000 bond.
USA TODAY reached out to the FBI, which deferred questions to the sheriff's office.
The student had not been formally charged as of Thursday, Sept. 18, and the Summit County Justice Court clerk confirmed the suspect did not have a court date scheduled.
As of Sept. 18, it was not immediately known if the suspect had obtained legal counsel in the case.

Classes resumed at the campus one week after a gunman fatally shot Kirk on while he was speaking as part of his "American Comeback Tour."
