Ashley Benson opened up about her chance to star in a 2001 photo shoot for Vogue alongside Britney Spears
She described herself as being "beyond thrilled" by the opportunity and revealed what it was like to interact with the iconic hitmaker
The Spring Breakers star was only 11 when she appeared in the photos alongside Spears
Ashley Benson has fond memories of her chance to star in a photo shoot with Britney Spears.
On Sunday, Sept. 14, the 43-year-old "Toxic" pop star took to Instagram to reshare a photo from her 2001 Vogue photo shoot. In it, she's wearing a pink dress while standing between two young ballerinas in blush tutus.
"Yes I used to teach dance … I'm itching to teach again !!!" she captioned the post, tagging the late photographer Herb Ritts.
One of the dancers featured in the photo happened to be Benson, 35, who saw Spears' post and reshared it with her own memories of that day on set.

"When I got the call that I would be shooting a September vogue cover with @britneyspears and Herb Ritts I was beyond thrilled," she recalled on Instagram. "I was 11 years old and the biggest Britney fan. My mom and I drove up to LA and spent all day with her."
As for her experience with Spears, she wrote, "She was incredibly nice and sweet and that had made my entire year. What a fun throwback."
Vanessa Hudgens, who starred in Spring Breakers alongside Benson, weighed in on the picture in the comments section, writing, "This is wild." Pretty Little Liars costar Shay Mitchell also chimed in, simply writing, "Wow."
Meanwhile, Spears' friend Paris Hilton left a heart-eyes emoji in the comments section.
Though the shoot was Benson's first time her career in Hollywood overlapped with Spears, it would not be the last.
Spring Breakers, released over a decade after the Vogue cover in 2012, famously featured the "Slumber Party" hitmaker's tender ballad "Everytime."
Speaking to Glamour in 2013, Benson recalled the rush of promoting the movie on tour, again noting that Spears' music played a role for her and costars Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Rachel Korine.
"The thing is we didn't really have time to do anything. We were in a different city every day, so we'd get there, do press all day, do the premiere, sleep, get up early in the morning, get on a plane," she told the outlet. "Throughout Europe, we flew private, so that was our time to have fun. All we would do is play Britney Spears and run up and down the hallway. It was just us four girls and then all guys — the producers on the movie and Harmony [Korine, writer and director]. We were just going nuts in the back, and it was so much fun."

While Spears wasn't actually teaching a dance class in the photo shoot, she has famously dedicated her time to teaching classes for children over the years. The performer shared a video clip in 2017 of her time breaking down choreography for a large group of students.
She has since taken to sharing videos of herself dancing in her home on social media. In 2021, Spears defended the videos on Instagram, saying, "If my posts aren't perfect ... I'm doing this for fun !!!!"
"If you think I should look like I'm on a magazine cover when I dance .... sorry ain't happening 💃🏼🙊😂 !!!!" she warned.
