Google and NBCUniversal inked a short-term extension on their existing carriage deal for YouTube TV, keeping the networks on the service for now as the sides work to hammer out final terms. The announcement came just after their previous pact expired Sept. 30 at midnight ET.

"We've reached a short-term extension to avoid disruption to our service while we work toward a new agreement with NBCUniversal," a Google spokesperson said. "We appreciate our subscribers' patience while we negotiate on their behalf."

NBCUniversal Could Be Headed for YouTube TV Blackout

NBCU last week started warning YouTube TV subs they they might lose access to its networks. Google has claimed that the media company "is asking us to pay more than what they charge consumers for the same content on Peacock, which would mean less flexibility and higher prices for our subscribers." If NBCU programming content is "unavailable for an extended period of time," YouTube TV subscribers will be eligible to receive a $10 credit, Google said in a message on its customer-support site.

At risk of going dark YouTube TV as a result of the dispute have been NBC shows including "Saturday Night Live," "The Voice," "Law & Order," "Chicago Fire," "Today" and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" as well as NFL and college football and more, plus cable channels like Bravo, MSNBC, CNBC and USA.

Earlier Tuesday evening, YouTube TV dropped Univision and other TelevisaUnivision networks after the sides were unable to come to terms on a contract renewal. The previous YouTube TV carriage agreement with TelevisaUnivision expired Sept. 30 as well. YouTube TV is offering affected subscribers a $6 credit or refund with the TelevisaUnivision blackout.

The affected NBCU channels include those that are set to be spun off into Versant, the new company that will house its cable TV properties (with the exception of Bravo). The channels are: NBC local stations; MSNBC; USA; Bravo; Golf Channel; CNBC; Oxygen True Crime; E!; Cozi; Syfy; American Crimes; NBC News Now; and Telemundo and Universo. Also affected are regional sports networks NBC Sports Philadelphia, NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports Boston and NBC Sports California.

YouTube TV had an estimated 9.5 million customers as of the end of 2024, according to research firm MoffettNathanson — making it the biggest internet-delivered pay TV provider in the U.S.

Google has been embroiled in YouTube TV distribution deal disputes with other big programmers this year. After contentious deal talks, YouTube TV and Paramount Global (now Paramount Skydance) renewed their agreement to carry CBS stations nationwide and more than 20 other channels in February. And Fox Corp. and YouTube TV reached a renewal in August 2025 after a public back-and-forth.

And four years ago, Google and NBCU had tangled over YouTube TV: In 2021, NBCU's distribution deal for YouTube TV expired but the companies quickly worked out a long-term pact.

Justin Connolly, former head of distribution at Disney, joined YouTube as VP, global head of media this spring. Disney sued YouTube and Connolly, alleging breach of contract and seeking to block his employment at Google, but a California state court rejected Disney's request. According to Disney's lawsuit, the media company's contract for YouTube TV is up for renewal soon.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — European leaders are converging on Copenhagen on Wednesday for two summits focused on security, defense and the war in Ukraine, following a spate of troubling drone incidents at Danish airports and military bases over the last week.

Denmark's defense ministry said that a precision radar system has been set up at Copenhagen airport to help keep watch. Unidentified drones forced the closure of the airfield a week ago, causing major disruptions to air traffic.

France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the U.K. also sent aircraft, ships and air defense systems to Denmark ahead of the summits. Ukraine's armed forces have dispatched a mission to the Nordic country for joint exercises, sharing its expertise on combating Russian drones.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Monday on social media that while authorities can't conclude who is behind the hybrid attacks, "we can find that there is primarily one country that poses a threat to Europe's security – and that's Russia."

Russia is the focus of Wednesday's European Union leaders meeting, where discussions are expected to center on how to prepare Europe to fend off Russian aggression by 2030, especially as the United States turns its focus on security concerns in Asia and elsewhere.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is due to address the EU leaders by videolink.

Leaders and intelligence services believe that Russia could mount an assault elsewhere in Europe in 3 to 5 years, and that President Vladimir Putin is intent on testing NATO as doubts swirl about U.S. President Donald Trump's commitment to the organization.

On Sept. 10, when several Russian drones breached Poland's airspace, NATO aircraft were scrambled to intercept and shoot down some of the devices. It was the first direct encounter between NATO and Moscow since Russia launched its war on Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

The incident jolted leaders across Europe, raising questions about how prepared the alliance is against Russia. Days later, NATO jets escorted three Russian warplanes out of Estonia's airspace.

The EU talks on Ukraine will focus on continued military and financial support for the conflict-ravaged country, as funds, weapons and ammunition once provided by the United States dry up.

A new proposal to use frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine will be discussed.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other leaders from across Europe will join their EU partners for a dinner of the European Political Community (EPC) on Wednesday evening. Around 40 heads of state or government are due to take part.

The EPC leaders will gather on Thursday for talks also focused on security, as well as trafficking and migration. Critics say the forum — which draws together EU members, aspiring partners in the Balkans and Eastern Europe, as well as Britain and Turkey — is a political 'talking shop' that produces few tangible results.

The U.S. government shutdown has begun after President Trump and Congress failed to reach a funding deal by Wednesday's deadline. Hundreds of thousands of federal workers face furloughs and many offices will close.

Trump has threatened irreversible actions as he seeks to punish Democrats. Democrats picked this fight as they demand funding to save health care subsidies that are expiring and sending insurance costs soaring. Republicans have refused to negotiate. More voting is expected Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. Transportation Department said on Tuesday more than 11,000 employees at the Federal Aviation Administration will be furloughed if government funding lapses at midnight.

U.S. airlines have warned that a partial federal government shutdown could strain American aviation and slow flights, as air traffic controllers and security officers would be forced to work without pay and other functions would be halted.

The Transportation Department said the FAA would continue to hire air traffic controllers, and field training of controllers would continue. During prior government shutdowns, the FAA suspended hiring and most training of air traffic controllers.

More than 13,000 current controllers would be required to continue working, but would not be paid until the shutdown ended, the FAA said.

The FAA has about 45,000 employees. In total, the Transportation Department would furlough 12,200 employees out of 53,717, including the FAA.

The FAA also said certification activities would continue for operational safety functions of commercial airplanes and

engines, as well as commercial space launch oversight and licensing.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A'ja Wilson scored 35 points and Jackie Young had 32 to lead the Aces back to the WNBA Finals as Las Vegas held off pesky Indiana 107-98 in overtime in the deciding Game 5 of the semifinal series on Tuesday night after the already-depleted Fever lost another star player to injury.

The second-seeded Aces, who won the league title in 2022 and 2023, will host the fourth-seeded Phoenix Mercury on Friday in the opener of the best-of-seven championship series.

No. 6 seed Indiana made Las Vegas work for it even though the sixth-seeded Fever have been decimated by injuries, with star Kelsey Mitchell going down in the third quarter of Game 5 with an apparent left leg injury. She joined a list of injured Fever players that includes Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham.

Mitchell had scored a team-high 15 points at the time of her injury. Six Fever players reached double digits, including Odyssey Sims with 27 points and Natasha Howard with 16.

The Aces were closer of a three-woman show, with Wilson coming within three points of her playoff career high. Chelsea Gray — who briefly went into the locker room early in the third quarter with an apparent right leg injury — scored 17.

Las Vegas needed every one of those points because the Fever challenged the Aces throughout, including after Mitchell got hurt. Rather than fade away and concede the playoff series to the home team, the Fever battled to tie the game at 84 on two Sims free throws with 52 seconds left.

After Young made two free throws with 27.1 seconds remaining, Sims answered with a drive down the lane for a layup with 22.5 seconds to go to again tie the game. Young missed a layup in the closing seconds and Jewell Loyd the follow to send the game to overtime.

The Aces then took the lead early in OT and didn't give it up.

A'ja Wilson poured in 35 points, Jackie Young had career playoff highs of 32 points and 10 assists and the Las Vegas Aces punched their ticket to the WNBA Finals with a 107-98 overtime victory over the visiting Indiana Fever on Tuesday.

The second-seeded Aces won the best-of-five semifinal series 3-2 and will face the fourth-seeded Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals, which will begin Friday in Las Vegas. The Aces are making their third trip to the finals in four years after winning the title in 2022 and 2023.

Wilson and Young became the first teammates to each register 30-plus points in a WNBA playoff game.

Chelsea Gray scored eight of her 17 points in overtime for Las Vegas, which won 16 straight games to end the regular season.

The short-handed Fever, seeded sixth, pushed the game to overtime even after losing star guard Kelsey Mitchell to injury and seeing center Aliyah Boston foul out late in regulation. Odyssey Sims led six Fever players in double figures with 27 points while adding six assists. Natasha Howard scored 16 points, and Boston paired 11 points with 16 rebounds.

Mitchell had 15 points before leaving the game in the third quarter with a noncontact leg injury. During the same play on which Boston received her fifth foul, Mitchell signaled for medical attention while grabbing at her left knee.

What appeared to be a potential leg cramp turned into several minutes of trainers working on the leg before Mitchell was able to stand and walk off with assistance.

The Fever made 9 of 14 field-goal attempts in the fourth quarter to dig out of a 77-68 deficit in the last 7 1/2 minutes. Boston sank a layup and Sims hit two free throws to tie it at 84 before Boston was called for a loose-ball foul with 27.1 seconds to go, her disqualifying sixth of the game. Indiana unsuccessfully challenged the call.

Young made two free throws, and the Fever used their reset timeout to advance the ball. Wilson tried and failed to steal the inbound pass to Sims, who took it in for a layup with 22.5 seconds left to tie the game 86-86 and ultimately set up overtime.

Las Vegas' first three field goals of overtime were threes, one by Jewell Loyd and two by Gray. In the final minute, Shey Peddy's trey cut a six-point Indiana deficit in half, but Young's pair of foul shots with 20 seconds left cemented the result.

In the first half alone, there were 13 lead changes and 14 ties while neither team led by more than five points. Las Vegas was up 47-45 at the break.

Wilson scored 13 points in the third period, including the Aces' final seven -- a triple, two free throws and a 2-pointer -- as Las Vegas built a 71-63 advantage with 10 minutes to go.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were on different pages when it comes to their split.

Kidman, 58, filed for divorce from Urban, 57, on Tuesday, Sept. 30 after 19 years of marriage — and a source tells PEOPLE she didn't make her decision lightly.

"Their split is turning dramatic. Nicole's hurt and feels betrayed," the source says. "She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he's already moved on."

The Lioness actress listed the couple's date of separation as the date of filing, and cited irreconcilable differences as reason for the split, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Reps for Urban and Kidman did not respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are seen backstage at the Concert For Carolina Benefit Concert at Bank of America Stadium on October 26, 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Elsewhere in the filing, Kidman and Urban agreed to a parenting plan that gives Kidman 306 days per year with their daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, and Urban 59 days. The estranged couple also worked out a parenting schedule and will make major decisions regarding their girls together. Neither party will receive child support.

Per the filing, the stars have agreed not to speak badly of one another or other members of their family. They will "encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families." Both are also mandated to attend a parenting seminar within 60 days of the divorce filing.

The parenting plan was seemingly agreed upon some weeks before Kidman filed; Kidman signed the documents on Sept. 6, while Urban signed them on Aug. 29.

A source in Urban's circle previously told PEOPLE that the country singer has "just been going through some stuff" as of late, while a Kidman source added that he's "been making questionable choices for some time now," and their split "was not the case of them just drifting apart."

A third source, however, said that for those who know Urban, "this has felt more like a gradual drift than some big shocking break."

PEOPLE confirmed news of the pair's split on Sept. 29, just one day before Kidman filed for divorce.

The pair was last seen in public together at an event in Nashville in June, and Kidman celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary with an Instagram post on June 25.

(Reuters) -Popular NBC shows including "Sunday Night Football" and "America's Got Talent" may disappear from YouTube TV as soon as Tuesday if the two sides fail to agree on a new distribution deal, a standoff that could influence the future of television.

Carriage talks have stalled over the rates Alphabet's YouTube TV will pay to distribute to its 10 million subscribers the shows of Comcast-owned NBCUniversal, the two companies have said.

But a bigger negotiation looms behind the scenes, and it reflects the newfound clout of YouTube as the dominant provider of video services in the United States.

YouTube TV wants to show content offered exclusively on NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming service - such as hit reality series "Love Island" - directly on its platform, a person familiar with the talks told Reuters. Currently, users have to open the Peacock app to see the shows, even on YouTube TV.

Known as "direct ingestion," it is an approach that NBCUniversal opposes, as it wants to preserve Peacock - which it launched in 2020 - as a standalone service that can collect subscriber data and sell targeted ads. For YouTube, securing NBC content would aid its push to become the country's biggest pay-TV distributor and strengthen the core ad business of Google - which is also owned by Alphabet - on smart TVs, where ad slots command premium rates.

These battles "will have important strategic implications for the future of media," LightShed analyst Richard Greenfield said in a note to clients. Disney's carriage deal with YouTube TV is also up for renewal at the end of October and similar talks will likely occur then, he said.

"We suspect YouTube TV cares far less about the rate it ultimately pays and far more about being able to ingest content from legacy media streaming apps," he said.

YOUTUBE'S GROWING CLOUT

YouTube now accounts for the largest share of TV viewing in the U.S., ahead of streaming rival Netflix and traditional media companies such as Disney, according to Nielsen.

Its cable-like subscription service, YouTube TV, ranks among the four largest U.S. pay-TV distributors, and Alphabet's deep pockets recently gave it leverage over Paramount and Fox Corp in carriage talks, according to media firms and analysts.

NBCUniversal offered YouTube the same terms it extended to other large TV distributors - including Amazon's Prime Video Channels - and is looking to include its streaming service as part of the bundle of programming YouTube TV distributes, said the person familiar with the negotiations, who requested anonymity because the talks were private.

An NBCUniversal spokesperson said in a statement last week: "YouTube TV has refused the best rates and terms in the market, demanding preferential treatment and seeking an unfair advantage over competitors to dominate the video marketplace — all under the false pretense of fighting for the consumer."

The online video service counters, however, that NBCUniversal is asking for YouTube TV to pay more for its shows than the media company charges consumers for the same content on Peacock. The company said in a blog post on Thursday that it would offer YouTube TV subscribers a $10 credit if NBC content is "unavailable for an extended period of time."

Analysts believe that losing carriage on YouTube TV could cut affiliate revenue and shrink subscriber bases for traditional media companies, with little assurance that viewers will migrate to their standalone streaming apps.

For Google, losing NBC content could weaken YouTube TV's appeal on connected TVs.

The talks will also have major implications for Spanish-language media. Univision, owned by TelevisaUnivision, has said YouTube TV plans to move its channels into a pricier tier that would impose what it calls a "Hispanic tax" of 18%.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday urged YouTube to reverse its Univision decision, alleging the company was "targeting" the network for hosting a 2024 town hall with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. Paxton said his office would act to keep Univision accessible if YouTube's actions violated state law.

YouTube said TelevisaUnivision accounts for only a small share of viewing on its pay TV service and that it remains committed to a deal reflecting the network's performance and pricing.

If NBCUniversal's content including Telemundo is also dropped, it would deprive YouTube TV of a giant slice of Spanish-language broadcast programming.

NEW YORK (Reuters) -The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday told employees to prepare for a potential lapse in funding, according to an email seen by Reuters, as the United States headed towards its potential 15th government shutdown since 1981.

Government funding will lapse at midnight unless Republicans and Democrats in Congress agree on a deal to temporarily fund federal agencies with Wednesday's start of a new fiscal year.

"We continue to watch the progress on FY2026 appropriations for the SEC," said Ken Johnson, the SEC's chief operating officer, in the memo to all staff.

The SEC did not respond immediately to request for comment. The email seen by Reuters included text provided by the White House blaming the shutdown on Democrats.

A shutdown would reduce the SEC to a skeletal staff of around 9% of current levels, according to its August 2025 plan for a lapse in government funding. This would severely limit the agency's ability to review corporate filings, investigate misconduct, and oversee markets.

When you're grieving, you may not be in the best position to make financial decisions.

The Great Wealth Transfer has begun: Cerulli Associates reports that baby boomers are set to leave a collective $105 trillion to their heirs by 2048, making Millennials and Gen Z much wealthier in the process [1].

For Ryan, this process has already begun. He's dealing with the passing of his beloved mother, and the funeral arrangements, paperwork and all the tasks that come with the end of life. He is also faced with decisions that will affect his financial future: Ryan's mother left him a portfolio of mutual fund investments that is worth about $500,000.

This substantial amount of money could help him get on track with his finances, but he's not sure what to do for the best.

Inheriting a large amount of money, property or investments can feel overwhelming when you are also faced with the grief of a loss. Giving yourself time to make a decision and investing in expert advice can go a long way in making sure you choose what's best for your future.

I'm 49 years old and have nothing saved for retirement — what should I do? Don't panic. Here are 6 of the easiest ways you can catch up (and fast)

Dave Ramsey warns nearly 50% of Americans are making 1 big Social Security mistake — here's what it is and 3 simple steps to fix it ASAP

What happens when you inherit investments?

Since Ryan is inheriting his mother's investments, a step-up in basis provision would apply. This means that the taxes owed on any capital gains won't be calculated from the time the investments were made (in this case, the late 1990s) to the time when they are sold. Instead, the cost basis is calculated on the date he inherited the assets.

In other words, any capital gains taxes that Ryan will pay if he sells the investments will be based on the value of the investments at the time of his mother's death compared to the value when he sells them.

Whether Ryan should leave the investments untouched or sell them is a highly personal question, and depends on his unique circumstances. For Ryan, since he still has some student loan debt, his first instinct is to sell some investments and pay down his debt. And before he came into this inheritance, he'd also been planning to start saving for a down payment for a home — and this money could give him a huge leg up on that.

To sell or not to sell?

What type of investments you've inherited may also be a factor when weighing what to do with an inherited portfolio.

Mutual funds are an investment where individual investor's assets are pooled to invest in stocks, bonds and other money market instruments, with the investments managed by a fund manager. Mutual funds are generally considered safer than individual stock picking because of this professional oversight, but some investors warn that these funds come with high management fees that eat into the value of the returns.

As such, Ryan may find mutual funds don't quite meet his needs. Exchange-traded funds (ETFs), on the other hand, tend to have lower fees and also can be more tax efficient when it comes to capital gains.

And since Ryan is still young, he may be interested in choosing a different mix of higher-risk, higher-reward investment types. If he opts not to cash out the fund, he may still want to review the performance of his mother's investment fund over its lifetime, and potentially choose a higher return investment type on the advice of a financial advisor.

Selling mutual funds

If Ryan chooses to cash out some or all of his mother's investments, the good news is that mutual funds are highly liquid. Mutual funds typically keep large cash reserves to cover investor redemptions — good for investors who want regular access to their money, but another reason why some investors see mutual funds as having poor returns, since this part of the fund isn't used towards growing wealth.

Ryan should be aware that he may have to pay a redemption fee on the funds, in addition to any taxes that may be owed on the capital gains.

Choosing a new portfolio mix depends on your financial goals and how long the money will be invested for.

Ryan might also consider that if he sold the mutual funds and then saved some of the earnings in a Roth IRA, his investments would grow tax-free.

Whatever decision Ryan makes, he should consult a tax professional about any possible tax implications, in addition to consulting his financial advisor.

Tyson's Beef Problems Aren't Going Away Anytime Soon

Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE:TSN) is grappling with a multifaceted market landscape, where tight beef supplies and persistent cost inflation are squeezing margins, even as robust performance from its chicken segment provides a critical counterbalance.

This dynamic highlights the company's intricate balancing act between immediate operational pressures and its long-term growth strategy. A recent analysis from Piper Sandler sheds light on this challenging environment, which is marked by supply constraints and rising costs.

Analysts, led by Michael S. Lavery, maintain a Neutral rating on Tyson with a $58 price forecast. While they hold a degree of cautious optimism for the long term, noting that beef supply stabilization could take two to three years, they emphasize that current headwinds are weighing on the company's fiscal 2026 outlook.

A key challenge is the slow recovery in heifer retention, which is essential for rebuilding cattle herds. Piper Sandler notes that retention rates remain above historical averages, contributing to continued supply shortages.

Tyson's anticipates that fiscal 2026 will be the supply "low point." This dynamic, combined with ongoing margin pressures in the beef industry, corroborated by the HedgersEdge beef packer index, is expected to persist through the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025.

Beyond the beef segment, cost inflation is hitting Tyson's Prepared Foods division, most notably due to soaring pork belly prices. The firm highlights a significant 41.9% year-to-date increase in pork belly prices in the third quarter, which has outpaced pricing adjustments and pressured margins.

Operational risks were further underscored by a recent recall affecting 58 million pounds of products, including its State Fair and Jimmy Dean brands, although analysts expect the financial impact to be adjusted out of fourth-quarter results.

Despite these challenges, Tyson's chicken segment is a notable bright spot. Piper Sandler has raised its fourth-quarter fiscal 2025 chicken sales growth forecast to 2.5%, driven by improved operational efficiencies and a focus on value-added products.

The chicken division is also set to benefit from cost savings as the company phases out its owned cold storage facilities, a move projected to generate $200 million in benefits through 2028. These operational improvements have the potential to boost chicken margins, which are currently around 8%, toward historical levels of 10-11%.

Financially, Piper Sandler maintains its fiscal 2025 earnings per share (EPS) estimate at $3.90 and fiscal 2026 EPS at $4.20, reflecting stable core profitability.

Revenue is projected to see modest growth, rising from $54.7 billion in fiscal 2025 to $55.5 billion in fiscal 2026. The analysts stress that supply constraints remain the primary risk to their price forecast, alongside broader concerns about livestock pricing volatility and weakening consumer demand.

In sum, Piper Sandler's analysis paints a picture of a company navigating significant but manageable challenges. The robust performance of the chicken segment is helping to mitigate margin pressures from beef supply issues and Prepared Foods' cost inflation.

The company's trajectory hinges on the gradual rebuilding of cattle herds and effective cost management, with Tyson poised to maintain steady profitability while positioning itself for long-term supply stabilization.

Price Action: TSN shares were trading higher by 0.76% to $54.37 at last check Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Angels will have a new manager next season, following the decision not to retain skipper Ron Washington, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because the team had not yet publicly announced its plans.

The Athletic was first to report the news.

The 73-year-old Washington -- who led the Texas Rangers to back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011 – was hired at the beginning of the 2024 season, but couldn't help the Angels escape last place in the American League West in either of his two seasons at the helm.

Midway through this season, Washington took a medical leave of absence to deal with heart issues. He underwent quadruple bypass surgery in June.

Ray Montgomery, who had served as bench coach, took over managerial duties on an interim basis. The Angels went 36-38 with Washington and 36-52 under Montgomery to finish the season with a 72-90 record, 18 games behind the first-place Seattle Mariners.

The Angels are the fourth team to make a managerial change since the season ended Sunday, following Bob Melvin's ousting San Francisco, Rocco Baldelli's tenure coming to an end in Minnesota and Bruce Bochy's departure from Texas.

Scott Wolf will reprise his role as Dr. Richard in season 2 of Doc, PEOPLE confirms

The actor is also slated to direct an episode of the series, which will premiere early next year

New episodes of Doc premiere Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox

Scott Wolf is getting back to work.

The actor, 57, will return for season 2 of Doc, PEOPLE can confirm.

Wolf will reprise his role as Dr. Richard Miller in a multi-episode guest arc, per a press release. He will also make his directorial debut on the series in an episode slated to air early next year.

"We always knew when Richard got fired that would never be the last of him," Co-showrunners Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg teased in a statement. "But no one expected him to come back to Westside like this — least of all Amy."

In season 1 — which began with Dr. Amy Larsen (Molly Parker) waking up from a car crash to learn she was missing memories from the last eight years of her life — Wolf's character took over as chief of internal medicine.

Scott Wolf in 'Doc' season 1

Amy had just found out about a costly mistake Richard had made that killed a patient — and that he'd covered it up. That revelation came to light at the end of season 1, resulting in Richard getting fired.

Season 2 picks up with a newcomer joining the ranks as the new chief of internal medicine, Dr. Jaon Ridley (Felicity Huffman), who also happens to be Amy's former mentor and friend.

Parker, 53, told PEOPLE that her character is "very much torn at the beginning of season 2 between the woman who she remembers herself to be eight years ago, the woman that everyone else tells her she became and trying to learn how to integrate those into something authentic."

The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now!

Following the season 1 cliffhanger that saw Amy kiss her remarried ex-husband Michael (Omar Metwally), a moment that her new boyfriend Jake (Jon-Michael Ecker) witnessed, Parker said that Amy "wants clarity."

"She really thinks, 'If I could just get my memories back, maybe I would know. Maybe I would know what I want. Maybe I would be able to remember the things I don't like about Michael, the things that I really liked about Jake when we first met, or vice versa.'"

Scott Wolf and Molly Parker in 'Doc' season 1

Wolf's return to Doc will mark his first role since he filed for divorce from his wife of 21 years, Kelley Wolf, in June. He called it "the most difficult decision of my life" in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, and he has since been awarded temporary sole custody of the three kids he and Kelley share — Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11.

Kelley, 48, entered a mental health treatment facility in Utah earlier this month amid the ongoing divorce, and she is also facing three misdemeanor charges related to the separation.

Arnold Schwarzenegger attends a press conference at the Vatican, Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, to present the "Raising Hope for Climate Justice Conference," promoted by the Laudato Si' (Praise Be to You) Movement, which was inspired by the late Pope Francis' encyclical letter of the same name. (AP Photo/Gregorio Borgia)

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Arnold Schwarzenegger downplayed the Trump administration's climate skepticism Tuesday and threw his weight behind the Vatican's environmental initiative, saying individual choice, local regulations and the Catholic Church's moral leadership were far more important to "terminate" global warming.

Schwarzenegger was at the Vatican to headline a three-day climate conference marking the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis' landmark 2015 environmental encyclical, Laudato Si (Praised Be). The document, one of Francis' main legacies, cast saving God's creation as an urgent moral imperative and launched a broad, grassroots movement that Pope Leo XIV has fully embraced and made his own.

Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California, has devoted time to environmental causes since leaving political office in 2011. His Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative is one of the backers of the Vatican conference, which is being held at the Holy See's newly inaugurated environmental educational center in Castel Gandolfo south of Rome.

At a news conference, Schwarzenegger was asked about President Donald Trump's recent comments to the U.N. General Assembly, where he falsely said that climate change was a "con job." Trump has long been a critic of climate science and policies aimed at helping the world transition to green energies like wind and solar. His administration has rolled back landmark regulations, withdrawn climate project funding and instead bolstered support for oil and gas production in the name of an "American energy dominance" agenda.

"Don't use the federal government as an excuse," Schwarzenegger told the Vatican briefing. "It's an easy way out."

He recalled his legal battles with the Bush administration over California's environmental regulations when he was governor, and a particular victory where "we said 'Hasta la vista, baby,'" Schwarzenegger said, quoting his famous line from "Terminator 2."

Schwarzenegger said far more important were individual choices about turning off lights when you leave a room and state policies promoting solar power. With its 1.4 billion people, 400,000 priests the Catholic Church also has a critical mass of people who can back environmental initiatives, he said.

This will mark the second staged production of the musical based on the Apple TV+ series following the musical's premiere at the Kennedy Center earlier this year.

The production will play a limited engagement from April to September 2026.

Schmigadoon is crossing another bridge on its path to greatness.

Entertainment Weekly can exclusively announce that a stage musical based on the Apple TV+ cult favorite series is heading to Broadway. Schmigadoon, which follows the events of the TV show's first season, will enjoy a limited engagement at New York's Nederlander Theatre in 2026.

Previews begin on April 4, with an official opening night set for April 20. The production is currently set to run through Sept. 6.

"Schmigadoon is a love letter to the Golden Age of movie musicals," said producer Lorne Michaels in an exclusive statement. "It's a little bit nostalgic and a lot of fun. We're very excited to bring it to Broadway."

Keegan-Michael Key and Ariana DeBose in 'Schmigadoon' season 1

The stage version of Schmigadoon made its debut at the Kennedy Center this past January, featuring an expanded score from what audiences heard in the six-episode season.

The show follows New York doctors Josh and Melissa, originally played by Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong on the series, as they set out on a couples' backpacking retreat with the intention of rekindling the spark in their relationship. But when they get lost in the woods, they stumble into Schmigadoon, a magical town that's a Golden Age musical come to life.

Now, Josh and Melissa are trapped in a town that won't stop singing and the only way to escape is by finding true love — which may or may not be with each other.

The show's creator Cinco Paul previously told EW that he had his sights set on Broadway if all went well at the Kennedy Center. "All I'll say is I want Schmigadoon to conquer the world," he said, "and I won't rest until every single person on the planet has seen our show, so make of that what you will."

The score features new songs, including "The Picnic Basket Auction" and a song in the vein of Damn Yankees' composers Adler and Ross.

Further details, including casting, are still to be announced. In addition to Michaels, producers include Micah Frank, Caroline Maroney on behalf of Broadway Video, and Christine Schwarzman and Megan O'Keefe on behalf of No Guarantees Productions.

As for the written but never made season 3, well, let's hope a spot on Broadway might stoke the flames of possibility there. "Most of the movement is inside my heart, but I'm not giving up," Paul said previously. "I'm really proud of the work that all of us in the writers' room did, and I think the fans would really love it. Take heart in the fact that I have not given up and there are other people that are fans of the show who would also love to see that happen. You just never know; life is long."

Sauce Gardner says he's being targeted by the officials.

Gardner, following the New York Jets' 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday night, lit up the referees for what he felt were biased calls against him and his teammates. Most notably, the cornerback was called for a big pass interference penalty in the third quarter of Monday's contest at Hard Rock Stadium, which helped set up a Dolphins touchdown.

But it's not an issue with Gardner, one of the better cornerbacks in the league, specifically. He says he thinks he and the Jets are getting called for more penalties because they keep losing games.

"I'm personally frustrated," Gardner said. "I feel like me personally, us not winning, I watch football all the time and I just feel like — I don't know if this is wrong to say — but I think I get called for more stuff just based off of us just not winning.

"I watch these winning programs and there's some egregious things and it don't get called, letting the players play."

Those comments are sure to lead to a fine from the NFL in the coming days.

Gardner, who is the highest-paid cornerback in the league, struggled Monday night. Outside of the pass interference call that helped lead to a Dolphins touchdown, Gardner allowed tight end Darren Waller to catch a touchdown on fourth down early in the second quarter. That score, which put Miami up 10-0 at the time, was Waller's first since 2023.

In total, the Jets were called for 13 penalties worth 101 yards Monday night. They had three turnovers and allowed De'Von Achane to run for 99 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. The Dolphins, now 1-3, also lost Tyreek Hill to a brutal knee injury in the game.

Justin Fields went 20-of-27 passing for 226 yards with a touchdown. He also led the team on the ground with 81 rushing yards and a score on seven carries. Breece Hall had 81 yards on 14 carries, and Garrett Wilson had 82 yards and a touchdown on six catches.

Gardner had two total tackles in the loss. He's up to 12 this season, his fourth in the league.

While it's hard to know how real Gardner's officiating claims are, he is right about one thing: The Jets aren't winning. They are now 0-4 on the season, making them one of just three winless teams still in the league. The Jets haven't made the playoffs since 2010, and they have only a single winning season since then. They hold just a 36-48 record since the start of the 2018 season, too, which is the worst record in the league in that span.

Winning games may not get them calls. But it certainly would make Gardner feel better.

"We don't win, and I feel like we don't get the calls that we should get, and we do get called for calls that we probably shouldn't get called for," Gardner said. "Obviously that's not the only reason I want to win. I want to win because I don't like losing."

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called on China to import Australian iron ore without hindrance after reports on Wednesday that a state-run Chinese iron ore buyer had told steelmakers and traders to temporarily stop buying shipments from global mining giant BHP.

China Mineral Resources Group Co.'s move against the world's biggest miner, which is based in Melbourne, escalates an impasse in contract negotiations, news media reported.

Albanese said he was "concerned" by the reports of the disruption to Australia's most lucrative export.

"I want to see Australian iron ore be able to be exported into China without hindrance. That is important. It makes a major contribution to China's economy, but also to Australia's," Albanese told reporters.

"These measures are always disappointing. But let's hope certainly that they are very much short term. Sometimes when people are negotiating over price, sometimes these things will occur. But I want to see this resolved quickly," Albanese added.

China Mineral Resources Group Co. asked domestic buyers this week to suspend purchases of any dollar-denominated seaborne cargo from BHP, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg, asking not to be identified because they were discussing private deliberations.

It means new deals can't be signed, including for cargo that has already left Australia, where BHP's mines are located.

The Chinese company, created by Beijing to bolster the country's sway in the global iron ore trade, did not respond to requests for comment, Bloomberg reported.

BHP told the AP the company did not comment on commercial negotiations.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers said he would arrange a meeting with BHP chief executive Mike Henry to discuss the Chinese trade.

"I've seen those reports, they're concerning reports. Ultimately, though, they are about the commercial arrangements between two companies and so in one respect, a matter for the company to work through," Chalmers told reporters, referring to reports of the BHP boycott. .

"This is a government that advocates for Australia's interests on the world stage, with our major trading partners. You can expect that to be the case again. (We will) work through these issues calmly and carefully, advocating for the workers and businesses and investors of our country," Chalmers added.

China has lifted a series of official and unofficial trade barriers since Albanese's government was first elected in 2022 that had been costing Australian exporters up to 20 billion Australian dollars ($13 billion) a year. But Australian iron ore was spared previous trade barriers due to its importance to Chinese steelmakers.
