UK and Norway led a military operation to deter Russian submarines in the North Atlantic

LONDON (AP) — British and Norwegian militaries led a weekslong operation to deter Russian submarines suspected of “malign activity” in the North Atlantic, the U.K. military said Thursday.

Associated Press

Defense Secretary John Healey said a frigate, planes and hundreds of personnel monitored a Russian attack sub and two spy submarines near undersea infrastructure north of the U.K. He said the Russian vessels eventually left after the operation that lasted more than a month.

Healey said his message to Russia was “we see your activity over our cables and our pipelines and you should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences.”

Representatives of Norway’s defense and foreign ministries, as well as the armed forces, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

British officials have tried to keep Russia in the international spotlight even as the world’s attention is focused on conflict in the Middle East. They have also stressed the overlap between conflicts there and in Ukraine, saying Russia has supplied Iran with drone parts and other support.

Healey told a news conference that “Putin would want us to be distracted by the Middle East,” but Russia is the main threat to the U.K. and its allies.

“We will not take our eyes off Putin,” he said.

In late March, the U.K. said its military was ready to seize ships suspected to be part of Russia’s “shadow fleet” of vessels shipping oil in violation of international sanctions over Moscow’s war on Ukraine. Previously, Britain had only helped France and the U.S. monitor ships before they were boarded.

“We are ready to take action" against the vessels, Healey said.

Stevens' decades-long recording career has included such hits as the Grammy-winning “Everything Is Beautiful" as well as the zany “The Streak," which captured the mid-1970s craze for running naked in public.

Born Harold Ray Ragsdale, Stevens's music was also known for its social commentary. In 1961, he recorded “Jeremiah Peabody’s Poly Unsaturated Quick Dissolving Fast Acting Pleasant Tasting Green and Purple Pills,” which made fun of the advertising industry.

His latest album is expected to be released Friday on Curb Records.

In July, Stevens suffered a mild heart attack and had heart surgery, according to a post on his X account. His performances at his CabaRay Showroom in Nashville, Tennessee, were canceled for the rest of the month as he recovered.

Jake Paul Plans To Make His Version of Druski’s ‘Conservative Women’ Skit

Jake Paulhas unveiled his plans to make a skit in response toDruski’s recent “conservative women” one. Although Paul admitted to loving the skit despite being a Republican himself, the influencer said he wants to respond with a “darker” video.

Jake Paul said this about Druski’s ‘conservative woman’ skit

During his appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, This Past Weekend, Jake Paul addressed the “conservative women” skit, which went viral after content creator Druski posted it online on March 26.

“Honestly, it’s f***ing hilarious. I loved it,” the 29-year-old YouTuber admitted. “I’m obviously Republican, and all the Republicans mad about this s**t is a f***ing L for all Republicans. Because this is f***ing hilarious.”

The influencer-turned-boxer said that the video is dark and twisted. However, he reasoned that it is what comedy is supposed to be, which is humans making fun of humans. “There’s truth in this,” he added. Paul then shared that he had been considering filming a response, even reaching out to makeup artists to create a “darker” skit.

In response, Von explained to Paul that if he wants to do it, there needs to be “black support” for the character. He said that maybe collaborating with Druski himself, or someone like former NBA star Charles Barkley, might be ideal. However, Paul didn’t agree with that perspective. He said that it might make them look “prejudiced.”

The conversation then shifted to the two talking about examples. They brought up past controversies involving figures like Justin Trudeau and Jimmy Kimmel, asking how they got away with it without much backlash.

The host then expressed his frustration that a kid can’t dress up as a popular black person, like LeBron James, for Halloween. Paul concurred with the criticism and pointed out that there are “too many haters out there.”

Their conversation was triggered by Druski’s skit, in which he seemingly parodied Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk. He captioned the post, “How Conservative Women in America act.” Currently, the post has garnered over 184 million views on X (formerly Twitter).

Ladd gave thanks to her music producer husband Brian Russell, to whom she's been married since 1981, for helping to pull her through the difficult time.

"I have a wonderful husband. All through it, he was there for me at every turn, and that makes a difference," said Ladd. "Eventually, I started to get little sprouts of hair. It was like, 'Oh, I'm getting hair!' It was a long, long, hard road. But you just get through. You just get on with it."

After Ladd spoke, Smith, 80, who starred as Kelly Garrett on "Charlie's Angels," shared how she immediately helped her friend.

"The first thing I did was send her my wigs," said Smith, also a breast cancer survivor. "She was so brave. She did have a very aggressive form (of cancer)."

Smith was diagnosed and underwent a lumpectomy and radiation treatment after a routine mammogram detected the breast cancer early in 2002.

"Early detection is the key," said Smith. "Every minute is important."

Jackson, 77, who played Sabrina on "Charlie's Angels," is a two-time breast cancer survivor who has become a strong advocate for early detection.

Ladd famously took over on "Charlie's Angels" fromFarrah Fawcett, who was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, and died from the disease three years later at age 62 in 2009.

"If you find a little something in either of your breasts, don't ignore it," said Ladd. "It might be nothing. But go quickly and find out for yourself."
