T-Pain performed with Jelly on the T-Mobile Mane Stage during Stagecoach 2024[/caption]

This past Friday, the Wild Ones hitmaker performed for the audience in Indio, California.

Before Eric headlined the T-Mobile Mane Stage, the music superstar played his songs in front of the crowd.

During the show, the Beautifully Broken artist brought guests T-Pain and Maddie & Tae onto the stage.

Today, Jelly Roll, 39, uploaded footage from his Stagecoach performance onto Instagram.

In the behind-the-scenes snippet, the singer showed off the tatted designs on his face as he donned a short-sleeved denim vest with a black T-shirt.

"This is my first Stagecoach! I am nervous! I am excited!" he said.

"I'm all the emotions you can feel! Let's go, baby!"

"First Stagecoach was one for the books," the music star captioned the post.

THE COMMENTS

In the comments section, critics slammed the country music fest for not including the star as a headliner, instead making him a "supportive act."

"Thank God Jelly actually did a headliner-worthy performance while [Eric Church] put even the boomers to sleep!" one critic noted.

"Should've been Friday night's headliner!! Had that stage and the crowd lit!" another critic pointed out.

"Headliner of that day in my eyes," a third critic mentioned.

"You killed it Jelly! Best set of the night! Hands down!" a fourth person wrote.

"The absolute best!! Gave us chills and we can't wait to see you next year headlining!" a commentator chimed.

HITTING HIS GOALS

Before Jelly performed at SatgeCoach for the first time, he also celebrated two major achievements in mid-April.

During the CMA Triple Play Awards, he picked up the win for his three number 1 songs: Son Of A Sinner, Need A Favor, and Save Me.

While taking the stage, the artist showed off his slimmed-down frame.

He donned an all-black ensemble with a matching jacket, T-shirt, and pants.

Jelly completed the leather look with a backward baseball cap and a silver chain around his neck.

"This means a lot to me because if you're a sweet old lady and you see me at the grocery store and ask me what I do for a living, I realized without hesitation that I would say 'I'm a songwriter,'" he said

"I think it's the most important thing I do.

"I believe songwriting is what got the platform to have these moments," Jelly closed with.

Around the same time, the musician revealed to People that he dropped about 70 pounds.

"I'm doing two to three miles a day, four to six days a week," he shared.

"I'm doing 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna, six minutes in a cold plunge every day. I'm eating healthy right now."

A DRIVER found themselves entangled in a costly towing charge after their car was damaged in a highway pileup.

A tow company charged a driver thousands of dollars after removing a vehicle from the accident – but state officials said the company took advantage of the crash.

A local tow operator said other tow truck companies charge too much[/caption]

The story galvanized the Detroit Towers Association into calls for legislative action.

Kellie Rockwell was part of a multiple-vehicle pileup in Michigan in 2022, according to local ABC affiliate WXYZ.

Rockwell's Ford Escape SUV was damaged on the passenger side and had to be towed from the highway.

After the accident, she said a tow truck operator approached her car.

"The tow driver … asked if we wanted him to get us out, and we said yes because we assumed they were with the police," she said.

After Rockwell's car was taken from the crash, the driver said she received a bill for over $9,000.

Other towing companies told the television station that it charged too much for the job.

"No way and no how can you justify $9,000," Bill Byers, a local towing operator and a former president of the Michigan Towing Association, said to the station.

Byers said he would have charged between $350 to $400 for the job.

"That's just blatantly taking advantage of somebody just because they can," Byers added.

Rockwell was able to cut the cost of the tow to $2,500 after her insurance company got involved.

The insurance company covered the cost of the tow.

However, the story caught the attention of Barry Foster, the president of the Detroit Towers Association.

He said Michigan state lawmakers needed to strengthen consumer regulation laws around towing.

"This has been a problem since 2010," Foster said at the time.

"A lot of these guys, they ride around with scanners with their trucks and they're trying to get that scene to see what's going on and beat the police authorized tower to the scene, and the police for that matter."

At the time, it was illegal in the state for companies to solicit towing services at the scene of an accident without police supervision.

Wrongfully or not, retrieving a towed vehicle can be a hassle.

Fines for the infraction were only $1,000.

Foster said the fine needed to be raised to $2,500.

He also suggested drivers ask towing companies if the police called them before they take damaged vehicles.

Michigan has changed some towing regulations for consumers.

"You have the right to challenge whether your vehicle was properly towed and the reasonableness of towing and storage fees," the state wrote on its website.

"This must be done in a timely manner and in an appropriate district court."

The towing company, 10G Towing and Recovery, didn't immediately respond to The U.S. Sun's request for comment.

However, the company has claimed that police did call the company to the scene of the accident and that none of its pricing policies are illegal, according to Detroit-based Fox affiliate WJBK.

COLLEGE students have engaged in local government meetings to fight against a towing company that prowls student lots.

One student was promptly towed and charged nearly $200.

Several students were quickly towed, with some trucks patroling lots every 15 minutes[/caption]

Shailey Desai was a sophomore at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, in December 2022.

She parked in what she assumed was a visitor's parking spot when visiting a friend, and within a few hours, her car was towed.

To retrieve it from the lot, Desai had to pay $170.

She said that towing could be easily prevented if more guest parking was provided.

"If they want to prevent towing, they should make visitor parking more available, and I don't know about anyone else, but I can't afford to Uber all the time," she told the Indiana Daily Student.

Desai, in addition to other students, felt that the fee to have her car returned was too high.

Sophomore Conner Wright said the local towing practices inspired him to run for city council in the third district of the city to combat the owing problem.

Wright also believes a student representative would help resolve student issues since college students make up a large portion of Bloomington's residents.

Steve Volan, a city council member, began recruiting and encouraging students to be active in their city's government.

"There has never been a student on city council who was an active undergraduate," Volan said.

"It's really expensive to build parking, so when people are asking where they can park it depends on where they're going, what time of day."

If Wright gets voted in, he vowed to implement stricter towing and parking policies to help struggling students.

He told the outlet that towing practices could be considered stricter than normal.

"The term predatory towing means not just enforcement of parking regulations, but it's going above that and seeking people who are violating rules just so they can tow and charge them," said Wright.

In his apartment complex, Wright noted that tow trucks have been spotted waiting and patrolling the lot every 15 minutes seeking violators to tow and charge.

Natalia Galvan, the president of the Monroe County Chapter of the National Organization for Women, also noted a lack of student voices in local politics.

Wrongfully or not, retrieving a towed vehicle can be a hassle.

"I was so frustrated by the inequity of parking options for renters in the city and the lack of student voices on our city's parking commission, I personally asked students to apply when there were vacancies on the city's parking commission in 2022," she said.

Conner Wright was elected as part of the city's environmental commission and was in office from August 2022 to January 2024.

In June 2023, the city of Bloomington announced several changes to the city's towing ordinances, which Michelle Wahl, the parking services director for the city, announced online.

"The City of Bloomington, within the last year, implemented a new towing policy which is quite different than what this community has experienced in the past," she wrote.

"We now have a very straightforward process that has been vetted not only with our Parking Commission but through our council."

In addition to other violations, the city will tow vehicles for parking in a reserved space if the vehicle is abandoned, or if the registered owner has outstanding violations.

LIVING out of an RV can be tough, but a key item can make the living situation more bearable in the summer heat.

A longtime RV lifer figured out a $2 "hack of the century" that made keeping a rig cool a breeze.

RVers have discovered a cheap way to keep windows from banging against the frame during breezy summer days[/caption]

Camping or living out of an RV is quickly becoming a cost-effective and versatile way to travel or live, especially when traveling to a destination area during the spring or fall.

Living out of an RV can be tricky during the summer – especially in the mornings on windy days when it would be ideal to leave the windows open.

Many RVers dread windy days, as the blinds can rise and then slam against the frame, making a loud sound for such a small space.

That's where Dave Helgeson's post to RV Travel's website comes in handy, as he raved about a Facebook user's hack to windy days in an RV.

"We're in southern Texas and the winds have been blowing," the post began.

"It's too cool for the A/C to be on so I opened up the windows. The window shades have been knocking on the window frames, irritating the husband."

She wrote that her husband made a quick trip to The Home Depot, and spent less than $5 on a perfect solution.

"He found this pipe insulation in his stuff and 'fixed' the window shades! I hope this helps another irritated person! Happy camping."

At The Home Depot, the pipe insulation mentioned in the quoted Facebook post can be bought for $2.11 for six feet of foam.

All the windows in an RV can be fitted with the foam with plenty left over.

Not only would it help during rainy days, but it would also help keep the blinds from banging against the frame while the rig is in motion to the next destination.

Helgeson wrote that he'd traveled in an RV his entire life, and was elated by the discovery of a cheap and effective solution for keeping an RV cool.

Commenters on Helgeson's post were pleasant, with many RVers explaining other helpful applications of the cheap pipe insulation.

"Hack of the century? Not even close," wrote a commenter.

"Using the same pipe insulation, fitted to the lower corners of a head-high slide-out, protects one's noggin. Now that's the hack of the century! Ask me how I know."

Helgeson responded affirmatively.

"Yes, I know your pain. I have also used foam piping for that nasty edge," his response read.

Whether in a big or small rig, there are a few things every traveler should know before hitting the road

Another camper wrote about another cheap way to keep blinds from slamming into the frame.

"I've been using velcro for several years to hold the shades in place," they wrote.

"I put a piece on the back of the bottom corner of the pull bar on each end & the opposing piece of the velcro on the front of the window frame on the bottom corners.

"You just need to set it up so the velcro spot matches a stop point on the up-and-down roller movement. My shades stay tight against the window frame without fluttering in the wind."

An additional helpful and cheap method came from another user.

"I have used the floor furniture protectors from Dollar Tree," they wrote.

"They have adhesive on the back, are small and lay flat, and come in multiple shapes and sizes. I have applied them once in three years."

AN Uber driver has asked a question as someone who drives for the company as a main source of income: why is he making less than in previous years?

Uber drivers are voicing concerns about the decrease in overall income as a full-time driver.

Uber drivers used to make nearly $30 per hour according to a recent study, now some drivers make as low as $14 per hour when expenses are included[/caption]

George, a full-time Uber driver using a pseudonym in Cleveland, Ohio, noticed that despite grossing $109,000 last year, he only took home 16% of that amount.

For those without a calculator, that's only $17,000 for the entire year.

He'd been driving with Uber as his main source of income since 2017 and explained that he was once happy with the amount he made per year.

After this year's net profit, however, he feels like he's stuck between a rock and a hard place.

"I used to sing the praises of Uber and recommend doing Uber to people looking for a business opportunity and one where a decent income can be made," he told Business Insider.

"But no longer."

According to documents he sent to the outlet, a large percentage of the funds reduced from his yield were due to the associated costs of driving his personal vehicle every day.

That includes gas, general maintenance, insurance, and other miscellaneous costs.

Compared to his earnings from 2021, an additional three percent of his gross income was retracted.

In 2022, he said that after careful calculations, he figured out that he was earning up to $40 per hour after expenses during busier times, making the 30 to 55-hour work weeks worth the trouble.

Gridwise published a study that found a typical Uber driver's wage evened out to be about $29 an hour in 2022, reducing to $23 on average in 2023.

In 2023, George only made around $17 an hour.

"Now I'd have to drive around 10 to 12 hours per day, six days a week, if I wanted to make a large sum like I was able to years ago, by working maybe 30 to 40 hours a week," he said.

In other major cities, like Minneapolis, Minnesota, drivers made an average of just $14 per hour after expenses were factored in, causing a revolt that nearly caused Uber to pull services from the city.

Uber told the outlet that a "vast majority" of drivers were happy with their pay, claiming that many drivers were making about $33 per hour before expenses.

Many Uber drivers like George were upset by the larger cut in overall pay, with many saying that the company is reducing driver wages due to increased insurance premiums, rising costs in gas per gallon, and driver competition.

George is one of many full-time drivers who feel their lack of education and physical capabilities make it impossible to find a different job that pays like Uber used to.

"I would only be able to earn, say, up to $20 an hour at a brick-and-mortar job, which would leave me in pretty much the same boat, so that's not a solution," he said.

"I don't have a degree, so my vocation pool is limited."

His bad hip which leaves him in chronic pain after light exercise would make standing, lifting, pushing, or pulling extremely difficult, too.

He's considered becoming a truck driver, but training and licensing could cost him thousands in out-of-pocket costs and unpaid training.

"There are a number of frustrations because I only want to better my life," he said.

"But because of the situation as it is, I continue to run into a brick wall."

George isn't imagining things, either – a recent study found that the cost of being a driver – gas, insurance, cell phone bill, snacks, vehicle maintenance, and other costs – have increased while total earnings have decreased.

A NORTH Carolina woman decided to go out of her way to avoid the lines at her local DMV only to end up waiting for two hours.

Her experience was largely due to a change in appointment guidelines.

Both were frustrated by the wait times – with one driving an hour away in hopes of faster service[/caption]

Jaqueline Camradt drove an hour away from her local Asheville, North Carolina, DMV to avoid the long wait times and loud crowds.

She got a new job that required a CDL license and was hoping to save valuable time going to a further location

"It's a nightmare to deal with," she told NBC affiliate WYFF.

"It's always very, very crowded, and really can't get in. It will take three to four hours, even with a walk-in, so I drove the distance to hopefully get it done quicker."

She tried to make an appointment with the North Carolina DMV but was told the next available appointment wasn't until July – three months away.

So, she decided to sit and wait for an opening.

"The next appointment is not available until July," she said.

"So, I decided to wait because I need my new license to start my new career."

A decision that cost her three hours.

Rhiannon Eskew said she had to burn a vacation day to get her DMV dealings done.

"We had to get vacation time for the day," she said.

"The whole day. Because you don't know, you have to sit here all day and potentially get turned away."

A recent change in how the NCDMV handles appointments and walk-ins was largely to blame for both women's scenarios.

Data showed that a majority of the department's visitors were walk-ins, and a quarter of all appointments were no-shows.

"Folks would rather have walk-in opportunities than appointments," said NCDMV Commissioner Wayne Goodwin.

"And frankly, the data also shows this, 25 percent of our appointments are no-shows."

Therefore, the department changed the appointment times to until 11 am to facilitate walk-ins for the day.

Eric Ager, a state representative, faced similar waiting times when his teens attempted to get their driver's licenses.

He surmised that the pandemic created a shortage, which then created a surplus of people looking for services.

"Obviously, during COVID I think you had a huge backlog of folks that ended up not going," he said.

The NCDMV limited hours for appointments to prioritize walk-ins after data showed a quarter of appointments were no-shows[/caption]

"And then it's been a challenge ever since. The other challenge has been just being able to hire people."

Goodwin noted that the department has been working hard to reduce wait times, hire more workers, and retain the employees who stayed through the pandemic.

He started by lobbying for DMV kiosks to be erected in grocery stores and military bases, making Saturday hours permanent, and giving raises to employees.

The NCDMV now has many services and renewals that can be largely done online, with finishing paperwork to be signed at a location.

A SCHOOL bus graveyard that opened in the 1950s still holds transit vehicles and is described as an amazing free adventure.

The Georgia school bus boneyard was started in 1959 by a business that sold buses and bus parts.

Alonzo Wade opened the used cars and parts business that turned into a school bus graveyard about 50 years later when Walter Wade took over, local news affiliate WSB-TV reported.

It all started to combat theft and unwanted graffiti.

"It's amazing," Walter Wade stressed.

"There's a lot of things I've done in my life, but I'm never been able to (paint) like that. I just get a kick out of watching the people's reactions."

He said the boneyard has had visitors from all over the US as well as some people coming through from other countries.

"Just to stop by to look because they've seen pictures of it," Walter added.

"It's totally different when you stop and look at it up close and personal."

There are more than 100 buses in the boneyard and some cars, as well.

When the site was originally opened by Alonzo as an auto business, he faced a problem with thieves breaking in and stealing the radiators out of the buses.

To combat the theft issue, Alonzo created a makeshift fence made up of the buses themselves.

Walter took on the business 50 years later and faced a new problem.

Unsolicited visitors started to paint inappropriate images and phrases on that bus fence made by Alonzo.

Walter called in some artists to paint over the graffiti and that is how the School Bus Graveyard was born.

Artists enjoy going to the graveyard from time to time to paint on the old school buses with Wade's approval.

Visitors can find all kinds of things painted across the vehicles like Homer Simpson, killer ants, PAC-MAN.

They can even take on the challenge of finding Waldo in the yard of buses.

Walking around the outside of the School Bus Graveyard is free which is something vintage car lovers enjoy doing daily.

Though it's free to walk around the outside of the site, it costs a few dollars to go inside and explore.

For those who are interested in the graveyard but not enough to travel to Alto, Georgia for a visit, there are ways to view the site online.

The School Bus Graveyard has a Facebook account with photos of some of the vehicles with outstanding paintings on them.

You could even inquire about the boneyard through the page.

"The OFFICIAL page for the School Bus Graveyard in Alto, GA," its intro reads.

"Please refer to this page when posting photos, asking questions or visiting the property."

Just this week a Facebook user commented on one of the posts on the School Bus Graveyard account, saying that it is a "great place to visit!"

A post even featured a photo of someone with a sign listing rules for the graveyard.

"Welcome (kinda) to the School Bus Graveyard. No way you may not: paint, climb, break, take or leave anything," the large handmade sign said.

A DRIVER claimed she was wrongfully towed after paying for eight hours of parking during a city's major event.

Initially, the private parking company attempted to ignore her calls – but a call from the media set things straight.

Lydia Washington was scheduled to work a booth at this year's Fiesta event in San Antonio, Texas.

When she pulled into a lot owned by Parking Management Company (PMC) based in Tennessee, she followed the posted instructions and paid almost $50 to park her car for eight hours via text.

When she returned to her car after a long day, her car was missing.

She called Bexlar Towing, the company that was authorized to tow her vehicle, and explained that she'd paid for parking and had the receipts to prove it.

Her car, she was told, was not listed on their roster for vehicles that paid for parking.

The towing company told her the resolution wouldn't come from them but from PMC.

They also said she was still responsible for the $200 towing fee.

"She basically just said, 'If you want your car you're going to have to pay the fee,' I kept saying, but this is an error," she told NBC affiliate WOAI.

Without a car, she called PMC – but her emails went unanswered.

Calling proved to be fruitless, too.

"It was busy constantly, beep, beep, beep, I mean it was impossible," recalled Washington.

That's when she turned to WOAI's investigative team, who contacted PMC on her behalf.

Their phone calls went unanswered, but the company did respond via text.

"Thanks again for bringing this to our attention," their response read.

Wrongfully or not, retrieving a towed vehicle can be a hassle.

"Apparently, the license plate was entered incorrectly. Ms. Washington was refunded the parking charge and the towing charge."

Washington didn't comment about the information being entered incorrectly, but she was happy the towing company refunded her money.

"I cannot thank you guys enough," she said.

"I mean I was so surprised that you were able to get this resolved so quickly."

The US Sun has reached out to Parking Management Company for comment.

DRIVERS have slammed a new 'diverging diamond' highway – claiming that the 'hot wheels' track could lead to numerous road collisions.

Locals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, hit out at the diverging diamond interchange, or DDI – the second ever to be built in the city.

"Let the car crashes begin," one fumed.

A second quipped: "Reminds me of that criss cross crash track that Hot Wheels made back in the day."

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation laughed off those concerns.

They said the construction will provide relief for the some 50,000 drivers who battle traffic on the stretch of State Highway 169 daily.

"We're getting near to switching traffic over to driving on the left side underneath the bridge, the Creek Turnpike bridge underneath or over Memorial," ODOT spokesman T.J. Gerlach said.

"That should happen by the end of next week.

"(Drivers will) be directed to back to the right side once they go across the bridge. What this does is it allows for free flowing left turns onto and off of the expressway.

"So those those people turning on or off the highway, they don't have to wait for a left turn signal.

"They're not crossing traffic to get on or off the highway."

"We can't alleviate the absolute worst at the peak hours, but we're hoping to maybe reduce that peak congestion just by more efficiently flowing traffic through the interchange," Gerlach added.

ODOT predicts construction will be completed by next month.

The U.S Sun has reached out to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for comment.

HIGHWAY MESSAGES BAN

It comes after news that hilarious messages on electronic signs will soon disappear from highways around the US.

States around the country have been given two years to abide by a new rule regarding how signs and other traffic control devices are regulated.

The regulation is a part of new changes made to The US Federal Highway Administration's 1,100-page manual released last month, Los Angeles-based news network KTLA reported.

Officials have said overhead electronic signs with obscure meanings, references to pop culture, or ones intended to be funny, will be banned in 2026.

They said it's because they can be misunderstood or distracting to drivers.

The agency, which is part of the US Department of Transportation, said signs should be "simple, direct, brief, legible and clear."

Highway and expressway signs should also only be used for important information like warning drivers of crashes ahead, adverse weather conditions, and traffic delays.

Seatbelt reminders and warnings about the dangers of speeding or driving impairment are also allowed.

Certain witty signs on roads in states like Massachusetts, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Arizona will be disappearing.

A FEMALE mannequin toppled onto a IndyCar track – startling fans as spooked drivers tried to dodge her.

But unlucky "Georgina" lost part of a limb after plummeting from the pedestrian bridge in Alabama.

'Had to meet the ol'girl even though she nearly ruined my race,' said winner Scott McLaughlin later on X, while sharing a pic of the damaged doll[/caption]

"That lady hanging from the bridge fell!" a concerned Santino Ferrucci told his team, A.J. Foyt Racing, over the radio.

Ferrucci, 25, was in fourth place at Barber Motorsports Park when the dummy plunged mid-race at Sunday's IndyCar event.

But team president Larry Foyt just laughed and replied, "Just keep doing what you're doing."

Motorsport described it as a race full of action, featuring a "mad" moment that caught everyone off-guard.

"Georgina" had been installed by eccentric track owner George Barber in 2016.

"She came loose on lap 52 hitting the deck feet first before pitching face first onto the side of the track," said motoring website Top Gear.

"There's been an accident of a different kind," said one concerned TV commentator.

"Not a real person, we should point out right away.

"This is part of the eccentric part that populates Barber Motorsports Park – question is, is this enough to warrant a yellow (flag)?" they added on NTT IndyCar series.

HAND CHOPPED OFF

Luca Ghiotto, who was making his first IndyCar appearance for Dale Coyne Racing, was the first driver to hit the doll.

His car chopped off a fiberglass and plastic hand.

Safety crews finally removed Georgina from the track after the stricken doll had been lying there for three laps.

"Had to meet the ol'girl even though she nearly ruined my race," Scott McLaughlin later wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

He laughed off the bizarre incident, and even posed alongside Georgina – with her hacked-off wrist raised in the air – for social media pics after the event.

The New Zealander captured his fifth career IndyCar victory on Sunday by winning his second consecutive Alabama Indy Grand Prix.

McLaughlin also shared a photo of an opened can of Banquet beer while joking, "Pouring one out for Georgina."

"I do love that part of this. It's unique. It's just a fun track. Yeah, if I lost to that, to a lady that fell off.

"I won't say anymore. It was a mannequin. It wasn't a real person," he told reporters at the post-race presser.

What happened during the IndyCar race in Alabama on April 28?

Will Power, runner-up, told reporters he knew it was just a doll that had fallen on the 2.3-mile track.

"I saw the yellow (flag) comes out and there's a lady lying on the side.

"I'm like, 'You're kidding me, who let her down?' There's a yellow for that lady.'

MUMMY

"That would have been funny if it came in someone's cockpit, 'There's a lady attacking me!'" said the Team Penske star.

But, he said he hadn't been worried, as "I knew exactly what it was."

"It was a lady hanging there – they're going to have to seriously get some good cables," the driver recommended.

When told that Georgina had lost a hand in the incident, Power also said that maybe the doll should be "go in a glass case, preserve the body, mummify it!"

A GREEN space the led to a peaceful waterfront was found covered in cars, worrying residents that a greenway would be destroyed.

A mobility researcher worries about the behavior being normalized, putting the green space under "direct threat."

Residents say that it took one driver getting away with it to inspire other drivers to break the law[/caption]

The Queensbridge "Baby" Park Greenway in Queens, New York City was found trampled by cars – effectively turning it into a parking lot.

The bike path, leading to the waterfront was torn by tires of heavy vehicles that left space to collect rainwater.

Mobility researcher John Surico said one of his favorite green spaces is under direct threat of being destroyed.

"To see it like this now is so dramatically different," he told CBS News.

He noted that it only took one driver to park on the grass and leave without penalty for other drivers to catch on.

"Once it happened with one person, it became accepted, normalized behavior," he said.

"This landscape was not built for two-ton vehicles."

The land that holds the Greenway is nestled between the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the Parks Department, and the Department of Transportation.

CBS reached out to the agencies and only got a response from the NYCHA.

"NYCHA is working in close coordination with our partners at NYC Parks and the Department of Transportation, as well as with Queensbridge resident leadership, to address concerns related to illegal and unauthorized parking along the greenway," their statement read.

According to the outlet, signs prohibiting parking were taped on trees but were promptly removed.

The Parks Department places barriers at both ends of the bike path, but drivers found a way to wiggle through a side entrance.

Residents who live close to the greenway are concerned about the future presented by those who park illegally.

"We got a lot of people from other places coming to park here, and they go to the subway," said Michael Butler, a resident close to the action.

"That's the big issue."

The Parks Department responded with a statement that promised progress.

"Our greenways connect New Yorkers to our city's greater park system so park goers can walk, jog, bike, and take in the great outdoors, safe from the distraction of car traffic," read the agency's statement.

"With safety being our top priority, we have increased preventative measures to prevent cars from parking along this stretch of the greenway."

Some, like Council Member Julie Won, say that barricades would limit residential access to the parking lots close by, but protecting the green space takes priority.

"The safety is going to be first, and illegal activity of illegal parking on the greenway has to stop," she said.

Lashawn "Suga Ray" Marston hopes the community's desire to preserve the green space will inspire city lawmakers to invest in the area.

He originally pitched the idea of transforming the area into a garden, but the city rejected his idea due to a lack of funds.

"We talk about environmental sustainability, we talk about green space, parks, open space, it's a whole thing," he said.

"But we got space back here that is flooding. It's a slap in the face, blatant disrespect."

He said the recent actions taken by the city to prevent parking should serve as a wake-up call.

"If there's not enough parking spaces, I don't know, figure it out. Fix the parking lots," he continued.

"But you can't do this. This is not okay."

A FAMILY was surprised to find several parking tickets from their HOA on their car.

Bobby and Sonya Sykes parked their Isuzu truck in the driveway outside of their home, but the HOA classified the car as a commercial vehicle.

The HOA said their flat-bed Isuzu truck was a commercial vehicle[/caption]

The couple's two-door, long-bed pickup was fined from their driveway in 2018, according to Texas-based ABC affiliate KTRK-TV.

The Sykes had moved into the Humble, Texas, neighborhood a year prior.

The city is located 20 miles north of Houston and is known for its family-friendly layout.

But the Sykes said their move to the town was met with sudden, undue parking issues.

At the time, Isuzu did not market any of its vehicles in the American market as passenger cars.

However, the couple's truck also fell outside of the legal definition of a commercial vehicle, the television station found.

Texas road laws require commercial vehicles to exceed 26,000 pounds.

The Isuzu truck stood at 14,500 pounds.

Still, the Sykes received a letter from their HOA that the car was considered a "nuisance to other residents by reason of parking a commercial vehicle in the community."

The HOA threatened the couple would pay for legal fees if they didn't remove the vehicle.

The couple was also charged with the postage and handling of the letter.

"I mean, we had it over a year and this is the first time it's come up," Bobby told the station.

"They say it's a nuisance to the neighbors, but everybody else who's heard of it says it's nonsense."

The family said they always parked the truck in their driveway.

Bobby and Sonya said they turned to the media after growing disgruntled.

You can avoid being ticketed by following all posted laws and ordinances, but sometimes mistakes are made

"We want some kind of resolution," Sonya told the television station.

"My concern is just why should we have to go spend extra money to try to rectify a situation that's really not even a violation."

But Bobby said the fine issue made him think about finding greener pastures.

"I thought about moving," Bobby added.

It's unclear if the parties were able to settle the matter.

A neighbor filmed the whole thing – but many viewers think the video wouldn't be enough proof in court.

Ugo Lord, an attorney and talk show host, is known for taking verbose legal language and translating it into digestible information for the masses.

His YouTube channel (@UgoLord) has nearly 1.5 million subscribers, with his most popular videos being Shorts of his lawyerly reactions to other posted videos.

In December 2023, he posted a reaction video to a Short showing a New York Police Department (NYPD) tow truck forcefully pulling a Honda Civic from its parking spot.

The driver put a hook onto the driver's side wheel and put the truck in reverse, pulling the Honda into the street.

The U-Haul truck parked behind the Honda sustained minor damage from the Honda being forced into its front bumper.

Once it stuck into the road, the driver pulled in front and hooked the wheels to the tow bar.

The rear wheels of the Honda were screeching in protest as it was towed away.

That's because the Honda was in park, preventing the rear wheels from turning freely.

Normally, tow truck drivers can place dollies with wheels underneath the rear wheels to prevent damage to the vehicle's drivetrain, but this driver neglected to use them.

Lord said that according to his vast knowledge of the law, the NYPD could be liable for damage to the Civic's wheels and drivetrain.

"If the NYPD is towing your vehicle, clearly you've done something wrong," said Lord.

"But, whenever a third party takes possession of another party's property, they must make reasonable efforts to make sure that that property is held safely."

While speaking, the video of the tow truck replayed, showing the Honda's rear wheels locked and screeching down the road.

"What we witnessed was not reasonable, making the NYPD liable for damages not only to the Honda but to the U-Haul as well."

In nearly every US state, someone can sue a towing company for negligence if a vehicle was wrongfully towed away and directly caused foreseeable damage, reported Findlaw.com.

"If you show that the towing company damaged your car when towing it, you may be able to show a breach of its duty of care. A towing company could cause many different forms of damage, but the most common are windshield, bumper, and tire damage," the site read.

Viewers of Lord's video agreed that the NYPD should be liable – but many don't believe video proof would be enough in court.

"Good luck getting them to pay," one viewer wrote.

"You'd have to sue them to get it right."

Lord replied, echoing the viewer's sentiment.

"You're right. It's a sad truth but you're absolutely right."

Another viewer wrote that the fact that it was a police truck would make an investigation and lawsuit nearly impossible.

"The cops investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing," their comment read.

A tow truck driver who watched the video couldn't help but comment about the driver's hack job of towing.

"I used to do tows like this, first there are situations where you can drag a vehicle by the wheel to access it, but you would use a special strap that goes through the wheel, not a j-hook," they wrote.

"[The driver] had dollies so I don't know why he dragged it with the brake on, but none of that matters because a skilled driver that does a lot of impounds would have been able to hook it onto the wheel lift even in that tight spot and on an angle."
