Whether you're a long-time "South Park" fan or just have heard of the show in passing, you've probably heard about that episode by now.

The Season 27 premiere of "South Park" started off with a fiery take on President Donald Trump's widespread attacks on media. The episode, which aired on Wednesday, July 23, shows a character with Trump's face on a cartoon body crawling into bed, naked, with Satan. The episode referenced Paramount's $16 million settlement with the president, Trump's claims that he'll receive $20 million worth of ads on the network and the cancellation of CBS' "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

In response to the episode, the White House told USA TODAY on Thursday, July 24, that the scene was a "desperate attempt for attention," calling the series a "fourth-rate" show.

During a panel about the show at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday evening, July 24, "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone sarcastically said they were "terribly sorry" for the episode.

Though Trump himself is not often depicted directly in the series, like the recent episode, Parker and Stone have used the popular character Mr. Garrison to represent the president through several seasons.

In the series' 20th season, Mr. Garrison, who previously was an elementary school teacher, wins the 2016 U.S. presidential election against Hillary Clinton. Becoming President Garrison, the character continues to serve as a parody for Trump until 2020. President Garrison takes on Trump's swooped, blonde hair, sends out fiery social media posts and is obsessed with hosting Make America Great Again rallies.

Here's a look at some of the key moments the president has been featured, or parodied, in "South Park."

White House, 'South Park' trade barbs: What to know about the feud

'Where My Country Gone?' (Season 19, Episode 2)

"Where My Country Gone" highlights the U.S.-Mexico border wall that Trump wished to build long before he took office in 2017. The episode aired in September 2015, ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

In the episode, Mr. Garrison (not yet President Garrison) begins to promote the idea of building a wall along the U.S.-Canada border to eliminate the number of illegal Canadian immigrants entering the country.

Can 'South Park' take on Trump 2.0? They're walking a tightrope

'Oh, Jeez' (Season 20, Episode 7)

In "Oh, Jeez," Mr. Garrison is elected as president in the 2016 election. The character, renamed to President Garrison, continues to serve as a parody of Trump in the series until Season 24, when Trump lost the 2020 election. The episode aired on Nov. 9, 2016, the day after the election.

'Members Only' (Season 20, Episode 8)

In the next episode, "Members Only," President Garrison begins his duties. He gets a Trump-style toupee, tours the Pentagon, is given a book of "military secrets" and gets in a heated phone call with Boris Johnson, the former prime minister of the United Kingdom.

'Put It Down' (Season 21, Episode 2)

"Put It Down" highlights the United States' relationship with North Korea and references Trump's presence on social media.

In the episode, which aired in September 2017, President Garrison posts aggressive tweets about North Korea, specifically about a nuclear missile fired by the country, which causes car accidents by drivers who are distracted by the posts.

'Doubling Down' (Season 21, Episode 7)

"Doubling Down," references the decreasing popularity of Trump during his first presidential administration. The episode aired in November 2017. During the episode, President Garrison insults a world leader on the telephone in the White House while his advisers discuss low approval ratings.

'Splatty Tomato' (Season 21, Episode 10)

"Splatty Tomato," again, parodies Trump's approval ratings following the 2016 election. The episode aired in December 2017.

Throughout the episode, President Garrison pops up, scaring characters and asking them about his approval ratings. The characters compare Garrison sneak attacks to characters in "Stranger Things" and "IT." At one point, the character Tweek is riding his bicycle around town when he sees a collection of balloons that read, "Make America Great Again." The balloons then pop, revealing President Garrison, who asks Tweek about his ratings.

'The Pandemic Special' (Season 24, Episodes 1-2)

"The Pandemic Special" was the premiere of Season 24. Airing in September 2020, the episodes satirize the United States' handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest amid the Black Lives Matter movement. President Garrison makes minor appearances in the episodes, notably using a flamethrower to encourage citizens to vote in the 2020 presidential election.

'Spring Break' (Season 26, Episode 6)

"Spring Break" parodies the insurrection of Jan. 6, 2021. In the episode, Mr. Garrison, who freshly lost the 2020 presidential election, goes on a trip with his boyfriend to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The episode aired in March 2023.

During the trip, Mr. Garrison starts to slink away to Make America Great Again rallies, despite his boyfriend's pleas not to. The episode ends with Mr. Garrison leading a chant that results in his supporters rushing the U.S. Capitol.

Want to watch old episodes? Here's how

Old and new episodes of "South Park" are now available for streaming on Paramount+ with a paid subscription. A Paramount+ Essential subscription is $7.99 a month with ads, and a Paramount+ Premium subscription is $12.99 a month without ads.

Rebel Wilson on Nov. 17, 2024

Rebel Wilson is reacting to a new lawsuit filed against her by the production company behind her directorial debut The Deb in Australia.

On Friday, July 25, outlets like The Guardian, News Australia and The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the U.K. based company AI Film filed a lawsuit in Australia's New South Wales Supreme Court alleging that Wilson, 45, has deliberately sabotaged the movie's release and that she has caused the company "financial and reputational damage." In response, the Pitch Perfect actress posted the opening number to the movie musical on Instagram and a lengthy message on her Instagram Stories stating the new lawsuit "makes no sense."

"As the director, producer and co-star who nurtured a project called THE DEB for 5 years from a 3 page idea into a gorgeous feature film - I want nothing more than to have this film released and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get this to happen," Wilson wrote in part on her Instagram Stories. "To say otherwise is complete nonsense. I'm so proud of the film!"

Wilson wrote that she believes the new lawsuit constitutes "continued bullying and harassment from" the movie's financiers at AI Films, Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden.

Ghost, Cameron and Holden originally filed a lawsuit against Wilson in California in July 2024, claiming that she sought to receive "credit for work she did not do" on the film related to the project's original music. As Wilson claimed at the time and now, the producers attempted to prevent the movie from making its world premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival; the movie ultimately did premiere despite the ongoing legal battle, but has not released publicly.

That lawsuit is ongoing.

"These proceedings are regrettable but essential to ensure The Deb's timely release," AI Films told The Guardian in a statement on July 25. "It's a joyous, fun film, and we are sure that audiences are going to love it."

Rebel Wilson/Instagram

Rebel Wilson's Instagram Stories, July 25, 2025

Attorneys for Wilson filed a countersuit against Ghost, Cameron and Holden in October 2024, alleging that the trio deliberately misappropriated $900,000 in Australian currency from the movie's budget, coerced her signature on agreements related to the movie under duress, and that Ghost sexually harassed The Deb's lead actress Charlotte MacInnes, which allegedly caused the person "to suffer a breakdown."

Per The Guardian, MacInnes later filed a declaration in the U.S. court stating that Wilson fabricated the claims, describing them as "completely false and absurd."

On July 25, Wilson wrote that she was releasing the first song from The Deb, a number titled "F--- My Life," because it's a phrase she has grown used to using during the ongoing legal battle.

"Every day since discovering their dodgy behavior (reported by cast and crew) I have said "F--- my life" but not in the fun way like in the song - in the way of like 'how on earth did my joyful directorial debut get s--- on by vile financiers who spew toxicity ALL because I told the truth about them,' " she wrote.

Rebel Wilson on June 24, 2025

In Wilson's Instagram Stories, she renewed her allegations that the producer trio stole money from the film's budget and that a cast member reported feeling uncomfortable with one of the producer's actions on set. "I reported both things. I'd do the same again. I believe in a safe and inclusive workplace," Wilson wrote."I've moved on, now directing my 2nd movie and loving it. But regarding THE DEB all I can literally say is 'F--- my life" with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. Everyone who worked on the movie and who knows me KNOWS I put my blood, sweat and tears into this," she added. "Everyone knows I'm a "truth teller" when it comes to vile people in the industry. I just want this movie to come out and for all the amazingly talented contributors to be recognized for their sensational work!"

Tour de France results: Race outlook after Thymen Arensman wins Stage 19

 • Tour de France results: Race outlook after Thymen Arensman wins Stage 19

Mark Giannotto, USA TODAY July 26, 2025 at 3:58 AM

Thyman Arensman had a flair for the dramatic during the final mountain stage of the 2025 Tour de France.

The Dutch rider passed Tour de France leaders Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard on the final climb up La Plagne in the French Alps to win Stage 19 on Friday, July 25. It was Arensman's second stage win in less than a week at this year's Tour de France and occurred on a shorter-than-expected course.

Race officials announced Thursday the route had been cut down by about 30 kilometers, avoiding the Col de Saisies mountain pass due to a herd of diseased cattle that needed to be culled. It was nonetheless perhaps the last chance for Vingegaard to challenge Pogačar. Though Vingegaard crossed the finish line in second place, Pogačar rode in right behind him with none of his time advantage lost.

With just two stages left in the 2025 edition of cycling's biggest event, Pogačar is closing in on his second-straight Tour de France title (and fourth overall) when the riders make their way down the Champs-Élysées in Paris on Sunday for the traditional finale. Here's a look at the complete stage 19 results and 2025 Tour de France standings after Friday, July 25, as well as what's coming up this weekend:

'Happy Gilmore 2' best sports moments: Scottie Scheffler arrested again

-

 • 'Happy Gilmore 2' best sports moments: Scottie Scheffler arrested again

Mark Giannotto, USA TODAY July 26, 2025 at 4:51 AM

Spoiler alert! We're discussing important plot points during "Happy Gilmore 2" (streaming now). If you haven't seen the movie yet and don't want to know anything about the plot, stop reading now!

The future of "regular golf" is on the line and Happy Gilmore is a down-on-his-luck drunk and father of five who gave up the game years ago after he accidentally killed his wife, Virginia Venit, with a wayward drive off the tee. Shooter McGavin is in an insane asylum and Gilmore is working at a grocery store.

This is the foundation behind the beginning premise of "Happy Gilmore 2," the highly-anticipated made-for-Netflix sequel of Adam Sandler's classic 1996 golf film that was released by the streaming service on Friday, July 25. Sandler and much of the original cast returned to reprise their roles for a story set almost 30 years later, with plenty of nostalgic moments, people and scenes that call back to the first movie.

But the plot also plays off modern golf themes with a new renegade league promising more fun threatening the existence of "The Tour." Gilmore ends up having to save the sport, save himself, find enough money to send his daughter to ballet school in Paris and get grandma's house back (after he lost it again following Virginia's death). It's a fun trip down memory lane fueled by sports, with much of the film taking place on golf courses, golf simulators, driving ranges and batting cages, as a bevy of celebrities and athletes appear on screen in various roles or as themselves.

Here's a look at some of the best sports moments and cameos from "Happy Gilmore 2," (and we'll try not to spoil too much of the movie if you haven't seen it yet, but beware):

Scottie Scheffler gets arrested … again

There were loads of recognizable golfers from the past and present in the film (although Tiger Woods is notably not one of them, despite being mentioned). But current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler provided the most timely comic relief as the script called for a couple references to Scheffler's infamous arrest at the 2024 PGA Championship.

Happy Gilmore shows Scheffler how to win a hockey fight at one point. Scheffler uses the skills late in the film when he punches an opponent when The Tour is in a showdown with evil, "Maxi Golf." Scheffler is disqualified and put in handcuffs, at which point he says, "Oh, no. Not again." Scheffler is later shown in prison, including a hidden scene after the credits. He also blows off an interview featuring goofy questions by Gary Potter, played again by actor and comedian Kevin Nealon.

Jack Nicklaus is a close second in the golf humor department when he orders a "half-lemonade, half-iced tea, refusing to call it an "Arnold Palmer."

Will Zalatoris is Happy Gilmore's former caddie

There are several modern-day twists on what happened in the first "Happy Gilmore," but the best might be the way the script capitalizes on PGA Tour golfer Will Zalatoris and his striking resemblance to the actor who played Gilmore's caddie in the original film. For "Happy Gilmore 2," Zalatoris plays himself but he's also Gilmore's former caddie and, unbeknownst to Gilmore, he's now on Tour.

The two end up in the same group at The Tour Championship, with the grudge Zalatoris holds about the way Gilmore used to treat him serving as a catalyst for a fun montage showcasing Gilmore's return to tournament golf. Gilmore ends up accidentally hitting Zalatoris with a snake, covering him in sand from the bunker and eventually tackles him into a pond just like the old days thinking Zalatoris likes it. Zalatoris, for good measure, is shown choking his own caddie like Gilmore once did to him, with Gilmore offering his approval.

Have fun today young man. Mr. Gilmore is watching you and very proud. pic.twitter.com/iwOEuMdR8W

— Adam Sandler (@AdamSandler) April 11, 2021

Bad Bunny is Happy Gilmore's new caddie thanks to evil Travis Kelce

Happy Gilmore's new caddie winds up being Oscar, a waiter played by Puerto Rican actor and rapper Bad Bunny. Oscar gets unfairly fired by his boss, played by Travis Kelce, during the Tour Champions dinner attended by Gilmore. After Gilmore can't persuade Kelce's character he's being too harsh, Oscar shows up at the first tee as Gilmore's caddie still dressed in his waiter's outfit and no clue what to do with Gilmore's clubs.

Gilmore asks Oscar to go to his "happy place" on the green for him at one point and it leads to a dream sequence in which Bad Bunny's character lathers honey on Kelce's character tied to a tree. A bear then approaches to eat Kelce before the camera cuts back to the golf course.

'Uncle John Daly,' Happy Gilmore's drunk neighbor

Happy Gilmore's daughter Vienna, played by Sunny Sandler, one of Sandler's real-life children, initially calls John Daly, "Uncle John Daly." He lives next to Gilmore in the rougher neighborhood he has to move to when he loses all his money. Daly is treated as a quasi-family member in the film. As part of a running gag in the film in which Sandler's character hides booze in an assortment of props and household items, Daly is frequently seen squirting booze into his mouth from a bottle of hand sanitizer.

But Daly, a recovering alcoholic in real life, also serves as a sounding board and confidant for Gilmore as he contemplates returning to golf, reminding him to, "Grip it and rip it."

Adam Sandler and John Daly attend the premiere for the film "Happy Gilmore 2" in New York City.Boban goes streaking

Remember Mr. Larson, the large construction foreman who had a nail in his head courtesy of Happy Gilmore, only to become his biggest fan in the gallery? Well, he's not in the sequel after chasing Shooter McGavin for Gilmore's gold jacket. But his son, played by 7-foot-4 former NBA center Boban Marjanovic, appears in the film.

Like his father, Drago Larson comes to Gilmore's aid from the gallery on the golf course when Gilmore falls off the wagon on Mother's Day. Gilmore avoids arrest because the police have to chase after Boban's character, who takes off his clothes and goes streaking down the fairway.

Boban Marjanovic is in Happy Gilmore 2 pic.twitter.com/TLtglUvkyI

— NBA Memes (@NBAMemes) June 1, 2025

Happy Gilmore takes golf's best to batting cage

The lead up to the film's final competition (trying not to spoil too much) includes a scene in which Happy Gilmore takes Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Scheffler to the batting cages. This, he tells them, is how he used to get ready for big tournaments and there's even a flashback to the memorable scene of Gilmore taking baseballs into the chest from the first movie. But DeChambeau proceeds to get hit below the waist and the rest of the world's best golfers get taken out, too.

Volkswagen stung by tariffs, but trade deal based on US investments may be coming

-

 • Volkswagen stung by tariffs, but trade deal based on US investments may be coming

Pras SubramanianJuly 25, 2025 at 10:33 PM

German auto giant Volkswagen (VWAGY) is feeling the effects of President Trump's tariff policy. An EU-US trade deal can't come soon enough for the Wolfsburg-based automaker.

Volkswagen reported that its first-half revenue for 2025 came in at 158.4 billion euros ($185.7 billion), essentially in line with last year's figures, but operating result (or operating profit) slid by a third to 6.7 billion euros ($7.86 billion), with tariffs the culprit.

"Decline in Operating Result primarily due to high costs from increased U.S. import tariffs," VW said, noting a figure of 1.3 billion euros ($1.52 billion), with other expenses like restructuring tacking on another 700 million euros ($820.3 million) in profit hits.

"Our half-year figures present a contrasting picture: on the one hand, we achieved strong product success and made progress in realigning the company," Volkswagen CFO Arno Antlitz said in a statement. "On the other, the operating result declined by a third year-on-year — also due to higher sales of lower-margin all-electric models. In addition, increased US import tariffs and restructuring measures had a negative impact."

Though the news was not exactly good, it was likely better than what investors expected, with VW stock pulling higher in Friday trade.

Nevertheless, the results of the first half mean VW slashed its full-year revenue estimate to be in line with last year, from a 5% gain it previously forecast, with the firm's operating return on sales (or operating margin) now seen in the 4% to 5% range from a prior 5.5% to 6.5%. Full-year automotive net cash flow gets chopped nearly in half to 1 billion to 3 billion euros ($1.17 billion to $3.52 billion) from 2 billion to 5 billion euros ($2.34 billion to $5.86 billion).

Read more: How to find the best luxury car insurance

Regarding that guidance, VW said the upper end assumes tariffs will be reduced to 10%, whereas the lower end assumes a 27.5% tariff applies through the second half of the year. "There is high uncertainty about further developments with regard to the tariffs, their impact and any reciprocal effects," the company said.

Reports suggest EU and US negotiators are aiming at a 15% tariff for EU goods coming into the US that would also apply to autos. Currently, the US imposes 25% auto sector tariffs on foreign-made vehicles.

"We hope that it will come to a well-balanced deal between the US and the EU, which allows fair trade between the regions," VW CEO Oliver Blume told investors, per Reuters.

Blume also suggested VW may have its own deal with the US government, contingent upon investment in the US.

"We have a very attractive investment package we will do there," Blume said, adding that the company has been in "good discussions" with White House negotiators. Blume indicated investments would come in the form of a "scalable program," without adding more details, though he mentioned the possibility of opening an Audi plant in the US. Currently, Audi builds vehicles for the US market in Europe and Mexico.

Hulk Hogan leaves behind a thriving business at WWE: Opening Bid top takeaway

-

 • Hulk Hogan leaves behind a thriving business at WWE: Opening Bid top takeaway

Brian SozziJuly 25, 2025 at 10:52 PM

It has been an attention-grabbing week for investors. Tesla (TSLA) had a far from electric quarter, while Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) bested expectations with impressive earnings numbers. And naturally, we had a fresh dose of Trump and Powell drama — playing out on live TV at a Federal Reserve construction site.

Now, attention will shift to a big week coming up.

Next week, we'll get earnings from tech heavyweights Microsoft (MSFT) and Amazon (AMZN). And Fed Chair Jerome Powell will be front and center with a decision on interest rates — one that probably won't do much to appease the president.

Lots on the docket and so little time to digest it all!

While yours truly always loves a good recession or S&P 500 (^GSPC) call from a pundit, it was the dot connecting we did on TKO Group (TKO) for Opening Bid that warrants a zoom in.

Zoom in: Hulk Hogan leaves behind a thriving business at WWE

Wrestling has lost its Babe Ruth, and the country has lost a sports icon.

Hulk Hogan died from cardiac arrest on Thursday at the age of 71. Hogan is being remembered for putting wrestling on the global mainstream stage in the 1980s with his fiery promos, overflowing charisma, and bulging physique. Simply put, before today's mainstream stars like John Cena, The Rock, and Roman Reigns, there was the Hulkster, brother.

Whatever I say here won't be anywhere close to enough in explaining what Hogan meant to many. That would include this '80s kid who used to watch his matches late on Saturday night with his dad.

But what the shocking news has done is remind everyone of the impressive WWE business Hogan helped build.

WWE merged with UFC in September 2023 to create the TKO Group, led by power agent and CEO Ari Emanuel.

Then, last fall, WWE landed a lucrative 10-year, $5 billion contract to exclusively stream its flagship "Raw" show on Netflix (NFLX). That deal began in January. Meanwhile, WWE's bread-and-butter live events business continues to hum as fresh storylines and stars cultivate the next generation of viewers.

Couple that with TKO streamlining the WWE operations, and you get the results achieved in the most recent quarter. WWE sales and operating profits rose 23% and 38%, respectively. All areas of WWE's top line increased in the quarter.

"He was important decades ago to establish the brand and its universal recognition," Jefferies analyst Randy Konik told me.

"But The Rock and others more recently have been more important to get the brand to where it is today," he said. "I also think Netflix deal actually took the brand into a higher gear as well given the global audience and ability to go back and view versus just watch live in a linear setting."

Konik has a Buy rating on TKO Group shares. The Street is broadly bullish on the stock as well. Yahoo Finance data shows 15 of 19 analysts who cover the TKO Group rate the stock a Buy or Strong Buy. Shares are up 57% in the past year.

Next up for WWE is a potential new deal for the WWE Network in 2026 and further international expansion. The company will report earnings on August 5.
