Looks like Taylor Swift is a Succession fan.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 14-time Grammy winner did a deep dive into several songs from her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Swift, 35, said that the fourth track of the album, "Father Figure," had influences from Succession and the relationship between the ruthless, fictitious patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his children.

She played a verse and the chorus from the song for the audience, who sang along to the tune, which interpolates the 1987 song "Father Figure" by George Michael.
"I pay the check before it kisses the mahogany grain / Said, 'They want to see you rise. They don't want you to reign' / I showed you all the tricks of the trade / All I ask for is your loyalty... / My dear protégé," Swift sings in the second verse.
"I'll be your father figure / I drink that brown liquor / I can make deals with the devil because my dick's bigger," the chorus goes. "This love is pure profit / Just step into my office / They'll know your name in the streets / Leave it with me..."
"It's like, protégé-mentor, and the relationship between the two, right?" Swift began. "And the power dynamics and idea that power could flip and somebody could betray somebody — that's so fun to write."
"And this is written from the perspective of the mentor to the protégé,' she continued, before getting into the pop culture inspiration, which is a scene from the fourth season of Succession."I kept thinking about that scene in Succession when Logan looks at his kids and says, 'I love you but you are not serious people.' And I think about that scene constantly. I just think it's one of the coolest scenes ever."

She added that she wanted to write a song that "has that energy" of Logan telling his kids "you bit the hand that fed you." "You do not possess the vernacular to be doing this," she added.
"But I also really have completely related to the protégé perspective in so many of these situations, right? Like, I relate to the younger one, like when I'm listening to this song, like, even though its from the perspective of the father figure character. That's why I like this song so much."Fallon, 51, noted that Swift "always finds a way" to make fans react, "wait...did she just say that?" referring to an NSFW lyric about making a deal with the devil."That's entertainment," concluded Swift.

The day before "Father Figure" dropped with the rest of Swift's songs, the estate of Michael, who died in 2016, responded to the inclusion.
"When we heard the track we had no hesitation in agreeing to this association between two great artists and we know George would have felt the same," they said in a letter shared on Instagram.
