Actor Lori Loughlin, and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, leave the federal courthouse after facing charges in a nationwide college admissions cheating scheme, in Boston on April 3, 2019.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are separating after nearly three decades of marriage.

The "Full House" alum and fashion designer have decided to live apart, Loughlin's publicist Elizabeth Much confirmed to USA TODAY on Thursday, Oct. 2. While the two are separated, no legal proceedings are underway.

The pair married in 1997 and share daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli, 26, and Isabella Rose Giannulli, 27.

The separation comes over five years after the parents pleaded guilty to paying half a million dollars to get both their children into the University of Southern California during the infamous Varsity Blues college admissions scandal. Both girls were admitted into the Los Angeles private university as crew recruits despite neither having played the sport.

Loughlin spent two months behind bars before being released from a prison in Dublin, California, in December 2020, while Giannulli completed around two weeks of home confinement in April 2021.

Best known for playing Aunt Becky in the classic sitcom, Loughlin later returned to acting to reprise her role on Season 2 of the "When Calls the Heart" spinoff "When Hope Calls" in 2021.

In 2023, she took on parts in holiday rom-coms "Fall Into Winter" and "A Christmas Blessing." Last year, she guest-starred on the final season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," where she played a version of herself and mocked her involvement in the scandal.

Many speculated that she addressed the scandal in a First For Women interview published in April 2024, where she discussed forgiveness and said, "stuff happens to everyone. We've all been in positions to ask for forgiveness, but to ask for it, you have to learn and know how to give forgiveness, too."

"I try to be a forgiving person," she told the outlet. "No one is perfect; we all make mistakes. So I was always told to let stuff go. And I think for your own health, you have to let things go because you can't hang on to negativity. Life's too short."
