Roger Federer, 44, has hit a major financial milestone.

The legendary Swiss tennis star and 20-time Grand Slam Champion's net worth is valued at about $1.1 billion, Forbes announced on Friday.

In addition to bringing in $131 million in prize money from 103 tennis tournaments, which is the third-best total in tennis history behind Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, Federer made nearly $1 billion before taxes and agents' fees from endorsements, appearances, and other business deals, Forbes stated. However, his official billionaire status can be attributed to his significant minority stake in the publicly traded Swiss shoe and apparel brand On, the piece explained.

There are only seven athletes who crossed $1 billion in career pretax income while still active in their sport, Forbes previously reported. They are soccer players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, boxer Floyd Mayweather, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, and golfers Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

A large part of Federer's appeal is his effortless ability to blend his spotless reputation with luxury sponsorships like Lindt, Mercedes-Benz, Rolex, and Moët & Chandon, the Forbes piece explains.

"Between his character and his likability, that's a big thing," Lisa Delpy Neirotti, director of the sport management program at George Washington University, told the publication. "You may be a great athlete on the field, but not everyone likes you. He's kind of debonair. He's got good looks. He's very polite. He's sophisticated, and his brands reflect that."

What Is Federer's Life Like in Retirement?

Federer's life in retirement is also incredibly full. In 2024, Federer told GQ he was "really relieved" to be retired, and was actively designing clothes, traveling, and spending time with his four children.

"Tennis was my identity, but it was not what I was doing all day every day. I mean, for the most part, I'm being more of a dad and a husband and a son. Being a tennis player was my hobby, and then that became my job," he explained. "But I always tried to not identify myself just purely as a tennis player. When tennis was taken away or put aside, well, I still had all the other things. And I think that mindset has anyway been a strength of mine throughout my career. I knew that if tennis ends tomorrow, which it can with an accident or whatever, it happens, you have to be able to live with yourself without the game."

In the end, Federer made it clear he's not eager to get back out on the court.

"I don't miss it. I really don't," he said. "I feel really at peace."
