Micah Alejado injury update: QB injures ankle, leads Hawaii to win over Stanford
Micah Alejado led Hawaii football to a gritty Week 0 win over Stanford on Aug. 24 in Honolulu as he led the Rainbow Warriors offense down the field in the winding seconds of regulation to set up a game-winning 38-yard field goal from Kansei Matsuzawa.
Alejado did so while playing through an injury.
At the 12:41 mark of the third quarter, the redshirt freshman quarterback sustained an injury when he got banged up on a sack. He'd briefly exit the game before returning to pull off the 23-20 come-from-behind victory against the Cardinal.

Alejado dominated on the night overall for the Rainbow Warriors, as he completed 27 of 39 (69.2%) passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns while adding 36 rushing yards on 10 carries. He finished with no interceptions but did take four sacks, one that led to a fumble in Hawaii's own end zone that led to a Stanford touchdown.
Hawaii's 23-20 win over Stanford marked the first win over a Power 4 opponent for the Rainbow Warriors since 2019. It also marked the program's first-ever win against Stanford.
Next up for Hawaii will be a trip to the mainland to face the Big 12's Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 p.m. ET at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.

Following the game, Alejado told CBS Sports Network's Tiffany Blackmon that he felt the pain mostly from his ankle during the game-winning field goal drive and that he'll be fine for next week's trip to Tucson, Arizona, to face Arizona.
"It was tough. I felt the ankle the most on that (final) drive for sure. But it was really about keeping the ball safe and getting into field goal range. ... At the end of the day, we got the win and that's all that matters."
He added: "A lot of things (are) better than the ankle right now, but we won and that's all that matters. I'll get back better and I'll be better for next week (at Arizona)."
