<p>Some Kroger locations will be closing soon as part of the company's plans to shutter dozens of stores across the country.</p>
<p>In June, Kroger said the company would close 60 locations in the U.S. over the next 18 months, according to the its first quarter 2025 sales report. Interim CEO Ron Sargent said during a conference call at the time that the unprofitable were spread around the country.</p>
<p>Kroger operated 2,731 stores at the beginning of the fiscal year, meaning the closures represent about 2% of all of its locations.</p>
<p>Additionally, the company reaffirmed its plan to spend between $3.6 billion and $3.8 billion this year on capital expenditures, such as money for building new stores and expanding and renovating existing ones.</p>
<p>Kroger added that it would offer roles in other stores to all associates currently employed at closing locations.</p>
<p>Here is what to know, including what locations are closing this month.</p>
<p>What Kroger locations are closing in August?</p>
<p>Although Kroger did not confirm the closings with USA TODAY, the closures were identified by the United Food & Commercial Workers, a labor union representing approximately 1.3 million retail, meatpacking and food processing workers in the U.S. and Canada.</p>
<p>Other Kroger store closings have been reported by local media or otherwise confirmed by USA TODAY.</p>
<p>Georgia</p>

<p>Other anticipated Kroger store closures this year</p>
<p>Aside from the closures in late August, other Kroger stores are expected to close in September and October.</p>
