<p>Barbra Streisand is sharing how the title of her album is inspired by her love for her family in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE</p>
<p>Streisand is a grandmother to three young children</p>
<p>The legendary star's new album is called The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two</p>
<p>Barbra Streisand may be a legendary, iconic singer, but to her grandkids, she's just grandma.</p>
<p>The singer, actress and director, 83, spoke with PEOPLE about her upcoming album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, her first in nearly seven years. As she chatted about the process behind making the record, Streisand shared that she's also loving spending time with her family — and specifically, her grandkids.</p>
<p>"It's wonderful to have family," Streisand tells PEOPLE. "And that's how The Secret of Life title came — [the secret] is several things, but one of them is family,"</p>

<p>Streisand has been married to husband James Brolin since 1998, whom she met two years earlier at a dinner party orchestrated by their friends. The pair, who each have children from previous marriages, wed two years later in a backyard wedding at Streisand's home in Malibu.</p>
<p>"I can't tell you how lucky I am that this would happen to me so late in life," Brolin said in his wedding speech. "Every night is a new adventure. Sleeping is a waste of time. I can't wait to see her again in the morning."</p>
<p>Streisand loves doting on stepson Josh Brolin's two younger children, daughters Chapel Grace, 4, and Westlyn Reign, 6, as well as stepdaughter Molly's 3-year-old son Soli. (Streisand is also mom to son Jason Gould, 58, whom she shares with ex Elliott Gould).</p>
<p>The star recalls a recent visit from Brolin's wife Kathryn, whom Streisand invited over to take some photos as she worked on the album cover of her new record.</p>
<p>"I had asked my daughter-in-law, who's also a photographer, to bring the children over and take some pictures with me. The kids were walking toward me, and I was standing behind a screen door, and I said, 'Oh Kathryn, take this picture right now,'" she says. "The point is, the feeling whenever they're here is just joyous. It's very, very special."</p>
<p>Elsewhere in the interview, Streisand, who has won 10 Grammys throughout her decades-long career, shared that she has no plans to step away from making new music. "As long as I have a voice, I love the privacy of recording," says Streisand.</p>
<p>"I love standing there in front of the mic with the music in my ears and singing, and there are more songs I want to sing. And I even have my original list of songs I've wanted to sing [since I was 18 years old]."</p>
<p>Streisand's upcoming album, a follow-up to her 2014 duets album Partners, includes collaborations with Paul McCartney (who recorded "My Valentine" with her first for the album and was a "no-brainer" to feature), Bob Dylan, Tim McGraw and Mariah Carey with Ariana Grande.</p>
<p>The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two is available on Friday, June 27.</p>
