A number of towns in Idaho have seen their population skyrocket by up to 50 percent since the pandemic. While Idaho ranks among the states with the lowest overall population, it's also experiencing some of the nation's most rapid growth. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Idaho was the fourth-fastest growing state in 2023. As of July of that year, the state boasted a population of 1,964,726. Interestingly, Idaho's small panhandle town of Ponderay has experienced a remarkable population surge.
