Carlos Sainz has been ruled out of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after the Ferrari driver was recognized with appendicitis.

Sainz had been unwell for a number of days in the lead-up to this weekend's race however still took part in both follow periods on Thursday.

Nevertheless, the 29-year-old has now been replaced forward of Friday's last apply and qualifying after it was found he will require surgery.

British teenager Ollie Bearman will substitute the Spaniard in Jeddah, turning into the youngest Britain to participate in a Method 1 grand prix.

'Carlos Sainz has been recognized with appendicitis and would require surgery,' a Ferrari statement read.

'As from FP3 and for the remainder of this weekend, he shall be replaced by reserve driver Oliver Bearman. Oliver will subsequently take no further part on this round of the F2 Championship.

Bearman was already in Saudia Arabia and, on Thursday, secured pole in the F2 function race.

The Brit is a reserve driver for Ferrari and Haas this yr and made his F1 debut for Haas within the first apply finally October's Mexican Grand Prix.

Ferrari have not issued a timeline for Sainz's return who finished on the podium final week at the season-opening race in Bahrain.
