'SNL' cold open spoofs Melania Trump's 'big, random' Epstein speech

"Saturday Night Live" is taking onfirst lady Melania Trump's "big, random" Epstein speech.

USA TODAY

The show kicked off its April 11 episode with a sketch covering an eventful week of news, withJames Austin JohnsonplayingPresident Donald Trumpand making a series of phone calls in the Oval Office. One of the calls was with his wife, whothis week held an unusual press eventwhereshe denied having any knowledge of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's abuse.

In the sketch,Melania Trump(Chloe Fineman) said she "decided I should do a big, random speech, completely out of nowhere," about Epstein, only for the president to tell her that this "sounds a little insane." He asked, "Who are you, me?"

"It's not just Epstein," she said. "I thought I could also say, 'I, Melania Trump, in no way helped out the Gilgo Beach serial killer.' That way, no one is suspicious."

Despite Trump pointing out this would only increase suspicion, the first lady suggested in the sketch she should also announce that she "barely partied with Diddy."

Johnson's Trump also calledTiger Woods(Kenan Thompson), telling the golfer, "If only there were something I could have done to help" after Woods'recent DUI, and Defense SecretaryPete Hegseth(Colin Jost). Hegseth assured Trump that Iran is "as obliterated as me every Saturday night, allegedly," adding, "You also probably heard that I want to start a draft again, which is a great sign for the ceasefire."

But Trump told Hegseth he had employed a secret weapon by sending Vice PresidentJD Vancein to help with negotiations. "After those Iranians spent 20 hours talking to JD, they said, 'Please, sir, just go back to bombing us.' "

The sketchalso featured Trump dictatinghis controversial Easter Sunday post about Iran, which ended with "Praise be to Allah." In the cold open, Johnson's Trump called this a "sarcastic attack on the world's largest religion. They famously have a great sense of humor about that kind of stuff."

The sketch was a return to the show's usual format of opening with a Trump-focused sketch. "SNL" took a break from the president last week, kicking the show offwith a cold open depictingNCAA Final Four post-game coverage. Johnson's Trump character wasn't featured, though the sketch still did get political with an appearance by the recently firedformer Attorney General Pam Bondi, played by Ashley Padilla.

  • Conrad reflected on seeing herself on camera again for Roku's Laguna Beach reunion special after years away from the spotlight

Lauren Conradis sharing her youthful beauty secrets.

The 40-year-oldLaguna Beachstar has been back in the press (and on a recentPEOPLE magazine cover) ahead of the April 10 release of Roku'sThe Reunion: Laguna Beachspecial. And as the cast of the MTV reality show looks back two decades later, many fans have been wowed by Conrad's ability tolook better than ever, despite her teen years and early 20s being captured on film.

“I don't do a ton of treatments,” Conrad told former costarKristin Cavallarion a recent episode of Cavallari'sLet's Be Honestpodcast. “I do some light Botox. I don't do filler. I tried it. I was like ‘eh.' ”

When Cavallari, 39, asked for clarification, Conrad shared that she tried filler under her eyes and on her cheekbone a few years ago and decided it wasn't for her.

“I just do the facial massages every other week,” she shared. “I love it. And then I'm very diligent about washing my face and doing stuff, but I don't do anything crazy.”

However, the mother of two has a strict diet, which she said is more out of necessity than anything.

“I eat pretty clean. I have a very restricted diet, mostly because of intolerance,” she said, joking, “I'm the person you don't want to go to a restaurant with.”

When it comes to foods she avoids, the former reality star said she steers clear of dairy, grains and legumes and limits nightshades.

“No, I'm a bummer,” she joked. “I kept being like, ‘Am I crazy?' And then I went and got tested, and everything just lit up. I'm a sensitive girl.”

But there are still some indulgences Conrad doesn't do without.

“I mean, listen, I love a French fry. I'll find those things that don't bother me,” she said, adding, “I also cut down a lot on drinking in the last couple years — too tired. I just can't do it anymore.”

When it comes to exercise, the California native said, “I play a lot of tennis and I do pilates. I know I have to start working out because everything in my algorithm is ‘you're 40 now, eat protein, lift heavy things.' ”

“Listen, I feel good about myself. It's fine, but we did this reunion, and they're cutting scenes back and forth of 18-year-old me and 39-year-old me. I was like, ‘Whoa!' ” she said. “I live a life without cameras now and I feel good about myself and I don't want to pick myself apart because that's not my priority.”

'Five Nights at Freddy's 2' (2025)

Five Nights at Freddy's 2kicks off in 2002, two years after the events of the original film. The children killed by William Afton (Matthew Lillard) possessed his animatronic creatures and took their revenge. Or at least that's what Mich Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) wants to believe. But he's smart enough to refuse the requests of his younger sister, Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio), to rebuild the creatures so she can reunite with her friends.

Mike is also increasingly wary of Officer Vanessa Shelly (Elizabeth Lail), the daughter of Afton, who may not be as blameless for her father's rampage as he previously believed. With that relationship in peril, Toy Chica (Megan Fox) and the Marionette lure Abby to one of the original sites to restart the animatronics' rampage. And this time, there's no guarantee that the Schmidt family will be spared.

Not even physically beating himself up is enough to break the hold that this curse has on him.

'Piece by Piece' (2024)

Piece by Pieceis both a Lego movie and a music biopic forPharrell Williams, who voices himself in the film. It's an interesting way to present the largely true story of Williams' rise in the music industry as well as his occasional falls and stumbles. Even Williams' real-life wife,Helen Lasichanh, and his parents get in on the fun of voicing themselves.

But one of the biggest attractions of this film is its musical appearances byGwen Stefani,Snoop Dogg,Justin Timberlake,Missy Elliott,Jay-Zand several others, all of whom play themselves. Williams acknowledges that he owes his career and some positive outcomes to his friends in the music industry, but he'll have to chart his own path to be fully happy with himself and his destination.

North Korean leader Kim backs China's push for ‘multipolar world’ in talks with foreign minister

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leaderKim Jong Unvoiced support for China’s push to build a “multipolar world” and called for deeper ties between the traditional allies during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, state media said Saturday.

During the meeting Friday, Kim said his government will fully support Chinese efforts to achieve territorial integrity based on its“one-China principle,”a reference to Beijing’s official position that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, according to North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency.

Kim also outlinedNorth Korea’sposition on unspecified regional and international issues of “mutual concern” and said sustained development of ties between the two countries has become more crucial in the current geopolitical environment, KCNA said.

Wang, on a two-day trip to North Korea, said the countries’ relations were entering a “new phase” following asummitlast year between Kim and Chinese PresidentXi Jinping.

Embracing the ideas of a “new Cold War” and a “multipolarized world,” Kim has sought to break out of international isolation and push a more assertive foreign policy by expanding ties with governments locked in confrontations with the United States.

While Russia has been Kim’s top foreign policy priority in recent years, sending thousands of troops and large weapons shipments to support its war against Ukraine, he has also been cozying up to China, the North’s traditional main ally and economic lifeline.

Kim joined Russian President Vladimir Putin at a World War II ceremony in Beijing in September and held his first summit with Xi Jinping in six years, moves that supported his efforts to portray North Korea as part of a united front against Washington.

North Korea and China last month resumed directflight and passenger train services, which had been suspended since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Wang arrived in Pyongyang on Thursday in his first visit to North Korea in seven years. He earlier met with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Sun Hui and discussed ways to facilitate further cooperation and exchanges and holding “in-depth” talks on international issues, state media from both countries said.

The state media outlets did not mention whether Wang and North Korean officials discussed issues related to the U.S. or the ongoingwar in the Middle East.

Wang’s trip to North Korea came before U.S. President Donald Trump travels to Beijing for arescheduled summitwith Xi Jinping in May. Some South Korean officials have expressed hope the Trump-Xi meeting could provide a diplomatic opening with Pyongyang.

Kim has suspended all meaningful dialogue with the U.S. and South Korea since the collapse of his diplomacy with Trump in 2019 during the American president’s first term. Kim has since taken a hard-line stance toward South Korea, which he now defines as his “most hostile” adversary, and rejected U.S. offers to resume talks, calling on Washington to drop its demand for North Korea’s denuclearization as a precondition.

“That's my real laugh. I have a really loud laugh that I actually find quite embarrassing," Dourif says. "Noah Wyle wrote that episode and I remember reading it and being like, 'Oh my god.'"

"People say this to me all the time. They're like, 'Oh, I can always figure out where you are because I can hear your laugh from doors down.' And so they wrote it into the script,” she continues.

Regardless, in the next episode, McKay ends upnabbing a date with the patientafter he’s discharged.

“There are a lot of women who are focused on work and then you get to middle age, like in your 40s, and you want to fill your life out a little bit. It's vulnerable and harder to do than when you're in your 20s,” she said.

"I felt very bashful myself in a lot of these scenes. But it was sweet to take that twirl. I was happy the show explored that with me."

As for Wyle, he told PEOPLE about the multiple roles he balances on set in an interview ahead of the season 2 premiere. TheERalum executive produces the series with showrunners R. Scott Gemmill and John Wells. He has written two episodes each season. He also directed his first episode in season 2.

“There wasn't a lot of time for analysis,” he said of the time between seasons. “We shot the first season and it started airing just as we were pretty much done with it. Then I was back in the writing room two weeks and four days after we wrapped.”
