The Gist

  • The argument was indeed a "tense" moment between the two women in real life.

  • It happened at a dinner party shortly after John and Carolyn's top-secret wedding on Cumberland Island, Georgia.

ThoughLove Storyis a fictionalized account ofJohn F. Kennedy Jr.andCarolyn Bessette-Kennedy's legendary romance, critics of the show have been quick to point out discrepancies between its script and the late couple'sreal-life relationship. First there was the uproar about Carolyn'shairandwardrobe; most recently,Daryl Hannahhad to set the record straight regarding her "not even remotely accurate representation." On the other hand, some scenesarehistorically accurate, for the most part—including the fight between Carolyn and her sister-in-lawCaroline Kennedyin episode 7.

The scene takes place during a dinner party hosted shortly after John and Carolyn'stop-secret weddingon Cumberland Island, Georgia. When one of Caroline's kids starts getting rowdy, Carolyn takes her downstairs to chill out. It's not clear if the girl is supposed to beRose or Tatiana, but in real life, it was actually Caroline's sonJack Schlossberg, not one of her daughters.

Tensions rise from there. Ahead, a reminder of what happens next inLove Storyand how Murphy's fictionalized retelling compares to the real thing.

After John and Carolyn said "I do" in a secret ceremony on Cumberland Island, Georgia, the couple returned to NYC and hosted a small dinner for some friends who didn't make it to the wedding. Caroline Kennedy, her husband Edwin Schlossberg, and the couple's three children came along, though they were present at the nuptials (her son Jack was the ring bearer and her daughters Rose and Tatiana were flower girls). JFK Jr.'s friend Jack Merrill later remembered the evening as a "classic Park Avenue dinner party," perPeople.

It was related to one of Caroline Kennedy's children.

Caroline's kids were small at the time and thus "rambunctious."  In her 2024 bookJFK Jr.: An Intimate Oral Biography, John's former assistant RoseMarie Terenzio wrote that Jack in particular was "running around and a little restless." Carolyn subsequently took him "in her arms" and "went downstairs with him into the lobby." (InLove Story, it's one of Caroline's daughters, not her son.)

Given the presence of paparazzi gathered outside the building, however, Caroline was "upset" and felt that Carolyn was being "irresponsible," according to Terenzio.

Recounting the exchange, Terenzio wrote that Carolyn was "shocked" that Caroline thought she would "go downstairs and intentionally expose Jack to that."

"She was like, 'I would never do something like that—I would never take him outside in front of the paparazzi,'" the author wrote, noting that the building was secure thanks to three doormen and security guards. "Carolyn said, 'It's not like I took him outside. I took him down the elevator and back up. I wasn't parading around the lobby with him.'"

"She was surprised at the reaction," Terenzio added. "It was tense."

After the fight, they were "a little distant, but respectful."

Following the argument inLove Story, John has lunch with his sister to smooth things over, telling her that he's had a "stressful" few months and that "not talking" hasn't made things easier. In real life, however, the duo were famously close. A friend of the family toldPeoplethat the two siblings and their respective spouses were "a little distant, but respectful" in the aftermath of the fight, but that's it.

"They would go over to Caroline's for dinner every few weeks," the source added. "Carolyn would always bring gifts for the kids. [...] And she always picked something special for Caroline."

  • At the event, Kate wore Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara, famously worn by Princess Diana, as well as earrings from Queen Elizabeth's collection

Prince WilliamandKate Middletonposed for a special portrait ahead of the Nigerian state banquet.

The Prince and Princess of Wales posed together ahead of the Wednesday, March 18 event in a recently published portrait, captured by Christianah Ebenezer. The royal couple attended the banquet in St. George's Hall in Windsor Castle alongsideKing CharlesandQueen Camilla, who hosted Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, first lady Oluremi Tinubu, for their state visit to the U.K.

Before the banquet, they posed for a portrait, with Princess Kate, 44, wearingQueen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara. The X account for the coupleposted the imageto the social media site. "A special portrait taken ahead of yesterday evening's Nigeria State Banquet 🇳🇬🇬🇧," the X post read.

In the photo, the Princess of Wales wore a dress by Andrew Gn, with a green hue that nods to the colors of the Nigerian flag. Her additional accessories included earrings from the late Queen Elizabeth's collection, King Charles' Royal Family Order (a badge featuring the monarch's portrait) and the Royal Victorian Order sash and star.

Kate's tiara was also notably worn by Princess Diana. The piece has been regarded as one of Kate's go-to royal headpieces, among the five tiaras she has worn throughout her royal life. Kate wore the tiara twice in 2025 for the state banquets honoring the U.S. and French presidents' visits.

The Nigerian state banquet marked Princess Kate's first occasion wearing a tiara in 2026. The year prior, she hadthree tiara moments: the aforementioned state banquets in honor of the U.S. and French presidents, as well as theDecember state banquet, when the German president came for a visit. There, she wore her biggest tiara to date: Queen Victoria's Oriental Circlet Tiara.

It also diplomatically served as a tribute to the German guests: it was crafted in 1853 for Queen Victoria under the direction of her husband, Prince Albert, who hailed from Germany.

Similar to the March 18 state banquet, the Prince and Princess of Wales were photographed for a portrait to mark the occasion.

In the Dec. 3 portrait, they both oozed glamour in the photo taken by Alex Bramall at Frogmore House."Looking forward to a special banquet tonight in Windsor 🇩🇪🇬🇧," they captioned the snap.

Bethan Holt, author ofThe Duchess of Cambridge: A Decade of Modern Style, recently spoke to PEOPLE about Kate's fashion choices for the various state banquets, calling her recent ensembles a part of "a subtle style evolution."

"She just seems to be broadening her horizons a little bit, but mostly all three looks were simply a masterclass in sartorial diplomacy," Holt, told PEOPLE. "There's always a little bit of anticipation, and she ticked all the boxes of diplomacy, glamour and appropriateness."

"I think fashion-wise, it was a safe choice compared to her other state dinner looks this year, but this was a real 'wow' princess moment for her. It's not something she does often, but I think she does recognize that as a princess, the public will want to see her looking like a princess every so often, and for a state banquet, she can really tick that box — and she did," Holt said.

Dark Secrets And Harsh Behind-The-Scenes Reality Of 'Price Is Right' And Host Bob Barker Exposed By Model

Bob Barkermanaged to charm millions of viewers on one of America's favorite game showsThe Price Is Right.

But behind the cameras, he controlled the employees with a "ruthless iron fist" and allowed racism, secret affairs, and workplace cruelty to run rampant.

"I hate that man," saidHolly Hallstrom, one of the models who worked on the show. He was a "shameless, self-promoting liar," she added.

Former members ofThe Price Is Righthave shared how the long-running show was not just about spinning the wheel, guessing prices, and winning.

The show's "Barker's Beauties," who were seen as glamorous on-screen assistants, said they faced harassment behind the scenes.

One of them hit a man in his privates with a golf club because ofhis inappropriate behavior.

After joining the show in 1990 as the "first permanent Black model," Kathleen Bradley became part of the "Barker's Beauties" group.

She saidone male crew memberwas "too friendly" with the female models that he would "rub up" against them, she said in an episode of the E!'s docuseries,Dirty Rotten Scandals.

Despite reporting the man to the producers, Kathleen said no action was taken. "I was really taken aback. This was really s*xual harassment," she said.

Kathleen recalled one show-taping incident where she deliberatelyswung a golf club at a man's privates.

"I accidentally hit him right in the groin. Accidentally on purpose that was," she said. "We were so exhausted and tired of the treatment. You just had to do what you had to do."

The show's former producer Barbara Hunter said there were instances where she said, "Hey, stop that," to predatory men.

"One time I was in the elevator, and one of the men just stuck their hands right on my b**bs," she said in the series.

Barbara recalled pushing the man away and not saying a word, adding that it simply became "instinct to know how to handle it."

In order to appease the women on set, CBS came up with a band-aid solution to a gaping wound: the 10-second rule.

Male crew members were not allowed to openly stare at the models for more than 10 seconds.

But "no one was monitoring how long the guys werestaring at the models," said Holly Hallstorm, another member who was part of "Barker's Beauties" from 1977 to 1995.

Holly said women who went to Bob with their complaints were told by the host to "get over it or look for a new job."

Bob's affair with Dian Parkinson became so open that his girlfriend allegedly phoned up one of the models to talk about it

Also covered in the docuseries was Bob's not-so-secret affair with model Dian Parkinson. Kathleen said Dianconfided in her about their affair, and they knew Bob had a girlfriend at the time.

"As time went on, people were noticing…" Kathleen said, claiming that crew members and even viewers at home were noticing how "close [they] were hugging and looking at each other, playing around and all of that."

She claimed Dian would spend her breaks in Bob's room, and "that's when some hanky panky was going on."

Holly also mentioned how the affair didn't stay private, and everyone knew Bob was cheating on his girlfriend.

She narrated a phone call she received from the girlfriend, who dropped her own bombshell about Bob's alleged racism.

"[The girlfriend] said, 'Oh my gosh, Bob has no idea that he's had s*x with a woman who has had s*x with Black men. Bob has always said that Black men are the most diseased people on Earth," she said.

Other instances of racism were also prevalent, Kathleen said. She mentioned that fans would write negative things about her "being on the show as a Black model."

"[It was] just not a good feeling… And one of the members of the production team brought to my attention that, inside a production meeting, when models weren't in there, they would use the N word," she said.

Fellow model Claudia Jordan said she, too, experienced racism and spoke about an incident in the docuseries.

"Other comments that [producer Phil Wayne] would make carried on that old spirit of racism, [such as] 'Let's make a reverse Oreo, Claudia, you get in the middle of the two white models,'" she said.

"He would also "tell me I'm the a** model because stereotypically, Black women have a larger behind," she continued. "And I guess that's why he wanted to grab and feel it."

After Dian had a massive fallout with Bob, her departure from the show led to a string of other issues.

She agreed to pose forPlayboysince she wasn't with Bob anymore. But it "did not go over well" with him, Kathleen said.

She claimed Dian wasn't happy and was very bitter about how things ended for her onThe Price Is Right.

"She wanted to get back at him… She said, 'He was s*xually harassing me and forcing me to do things to him in the dressing room, where I didn't want to do it. And I'm going to get my attorney, I'm going to file a s*xual harassment lawsuit against them," she said.

Dian filed a lawsuit against Bob, but it was eventually dropped.

Holly Hallstromspoke about how Bob had her fired following the Dian scandal

The environment on set also changed after Dian left the show, with Holly saying they were expected to sit with lawyers in the studio and say "bad stuff about Dian and how Bob could not have possibly s*xually harassed Dian."

Holly said she wanted nothing to do with the fiasco and refused to give a deposition when asked to. "I didn't want to commit felony perjury, which is exactly what it would have been if I gave a testimony," she said.

Holly believes this ultimately led to her being thrown out of the show, with her weight being used as an excuse.

"They couldn't use the 'Well, she refused to lie for me' excuse to get rid of me, so they said it was because of my weight. That's when I knew I was being set up," she said.

Despite losing some weight, the model was told it wasn't enough and was asked to take an early retirement. That was the first time she felt, "I hate that man," Holly toldPeoplein an interview published this week.

On theE!docuseries, Holly said she refused to retire because there was no reason too. But Bob "wanted [her] gone," which led to her being fired.

Years later, she shared her side of the story on the tabloid showHard Copy, which led to Bob suing her for defamation.

"After that, no one spoke to me. No one returned my calls… And now, I am so alone, God, so alone, and going through the court process by myself," she said, calling it the "worst thing in my whole life."

Bob eventually dropped the lawsuit days before the trial was scheduled to begin. Holly then sued him for malicious prosecution and was later offered a settlement. But she turned it down because it included signing a non-disclosure agreement to stop her from publicly speaking about the show.

"I knew that I was not going to sign an NDA because he is a liar. He is a shameless, self-promoting liar. I was fired," she said.

"I lost everything. I was totally broke and living out of my car," one of the models said

Holly said she sold off her house and used up her savings for the lawsuit because she wanted to fight hard to win.

"I lost everything. I was totally broke and living out of my car," she continued. "I would just stay with friends and family because at the moment, I couldn't afford to stay in this lawsuit and I would have to settle, and I was not going to do that." She eventually received a monetary settlement.

The talk show host passed away in 2023 after the onset of Alzheimer's Disease. His representative Roger Neal addressed the allegations in the docuseries this week.

The talk show host "was and is beloved, and people to this day love him," the longtime representative toldUSA TODAY.

"He was part of the fabric of American pop culture. He was the greatest MC in TV history," he continued. "I was honored to have represented him."
