Fans today can only dream of seeing Pink Floyd live — and while that'll probably never happen, adding salt to the wound, the band once performed for less than £3 back in 1975.

The legendary rock group was headlining the Knebworth Festival, sharing the stage with iconic stars like Paul McCartney,Eric Clapton, Elton John, Led Zeppelin and more.

On July 5, 1975, Pink Floyd took the festival's coveted spot, but their set didn't go exactly as planned. Technical difficulties reportedly forced the band offstage for nearly half an hour as repairs were made.

After overcoming those setbacks, they went on to perform hits like "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and introduced songs from their then-upcoming album, including "Wish You Were Here" and "Dogs."

Freddy Bannister, the man behind one of the UK's largest outdoor music festivals, aimed to keep the event affordable.

"I think I always tried to book the strongest program possible," he told Vintage Rock, "whilst keeping the admission price as low as was practical."

At the time, tickets were priced as low as £2.75 for admission to see Pink Floyd, who headlined before Steve Miller, Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band and Roy Harper took the stage.

For comparison, those tickets from 50 years ago would be about £17 today — roughly the price of a meal at McDonald's. If Pink Floyd were to perform again, you can bet the price wouldn't be anywhere near that low.

The '70s band did however return to Knebworth in 1990, but faced even more challenges — this time from uncontrollable weather and a Beatle member.

Their performance was delayed due toMcCartney's set running late, leading to a near altercation between the artists' managers. Album artist Aubrey Powell recalled to Rolling Stone, "They were nearly at blows with each other."

By the time Pink Floyd took the stage, heavy rain and wind gusts had completely taken over.

"I remember thinking, 'You can hide from this rain or you've got to embrace it,'" David Gilmour once said on the "Lost Art of Conversation" podcast. "There's only one thing to do: get out there and enjoy it."

Despite the chaos, the band pushed through and gave a memorable performance — one that lucky fans still brag about, especially knowing their ticket wouldn't even cover a soda at most venues today.
