Sources close to the matter say that 'Cruise's team have been sounded out' about the possibility of a knighthood – and believe that he may get the award as soon as next month in King Charles's Birthday Honours. Cruise, 62, wouldn't be the first American to be granted an honorary knight or damehood. Steven Spielberg, Angelina Jolie and Bill Gates were all given the award by the late Queen Elizabeth II as a direct gift of the sovereign.
